About this deal

Overall, a great continuation in the series (my favourite so far) and I will move on to ‘Glow’ next before I have to wait 6 months for ‘Gold’ to be released. If you made it through the first two books of The Plated Prisoner, Gleam is the culmination of all the world-building and character-development Raven Kennedy outlined up to this point. She's an interesting character and having her POV once again really make the similarities and differences between her and Auren stand out. She feels that she can’t trust anyone and that everyone is lying to her for their gain, whether it’s because they need her powers, or because they want to undermine Midas.

At some point, someone discovered that men that taking control and commanding women in the bedroom is sexy, and that women finding pleasure from men using "dirty" words about their body (and commanding the women to use them) is sexy. It was really sad to see how lonely Auren felt, but at the same time, I feel that it gave her that final push to finally start to put herself first and be willing to say “no”.of our deliveries are made by Royal Mail as we think they give the best service and cover all areas of the UK. Not to mention the prose - so well done, so unique, so wonderfully descriptive that I can envision this world of magic and politics and love and loss as if I am there, living in it, experiencing all that Auren does. The last chapter is told from the POV of another character, and that ending just makes it harder to have to wait until next year for the fourth book! There is more political intrigue and court drama than the previous books and more characters introduced. Auren is still trying to deal with the emotional aftermath of Rip's lies and "betrayal" (although in my humble opinion, it's not really a betrayal.

I recommend it for people who like To Bleed a Crystal Bloom, The Four Horseman Series by Laura Thalassa and A Touch of Darkness.Midas has Auren locked in her room but she climbs (read: falls) out the window to speak to Rissa about a new plan. It's actually insane how vastly different my rating for book 1 and 3 are, but I can definitely say that I don't regret reading this series. There are once again flashbacks from Auren's past allowing us to get to know even more about her as well as (without spoiler) mentioning something absolutely essential that we'll learn about later.

Queen Malina still has a few chapters in this book, and honestly, I found them as boring as the ones in Glint. Not that I expect the author to suddenly make Slade the bad guy, but come on girl - did you learn nothing? Auren was given a glimpse of a different future in her time with Commander Rip, a life that didn’t involve a cage or being taken advantage of. Also, I am certain that there will be a lot more chapters with his POV in Glow, based on how Gleam ended, and that makes me so damn happy. I instantly find myself wishing that things were different, that we had met under other circumstances.

The worst part of this for me is that some parts ARE actually really sick- I love Auren's magic and the way it works.
