About this deal
Opens with sweet cherry and settles nicely into warmly spiced, slight leather accords the more it matures. It is a perfect evening/night wear year round, but daytime I would only wear it during spring, fall, and winter since the notes are quite heavy and sweet.
Its versatility is awesome, can be used anytime anywhere and it will fit, however it will be best in office or work. I finally bought a bottle after constantly going back to the boutique and testing all of the L'homme Ideal line. This fragrance, a creation from the renowned niche/designer house, presents a blend of notes, featuring cherry, almond, bergamot, spices, vanilla, tonka bean, leather, incense, and sandalwood. It has a strong projection for the first 1-2 hours, but it stays on the body lingering for hours with a moderate sillage.
I think this would go well on cool days, but I'll try it on a Summer day just to see if it could be more versatile than I'm giving it credit for. Its possible I got a bad batch as I do have the newer bottle (I heard it was not reformulated though with the newer bottle? I feel like I start smelling more of the rosemary (or some other herbal note) during the dry down despite it being a top note. The orange blossom top note already proposes an elegant sweet ambiance and participates in the sweet accord together with the tonka and almond notes. The opening begins with a bright citrusy opening, but the best part is after 15 minutes or so, when that amazing almond note shows itself and takes the fragrance into a completely unexpected direction. It's impressive that they managed to keep the same DNA throughout the whole line while still being able to create distinct fragrances. As it stands, I find L’Homme Ideal EDT quite special in my collection, as well as the larger landscape of contemporary frags for men, especially among the designers. I doubt you'll get any complements unless you hug lots of people or are constantly in other peoples personal space.
I bought a full bottle of the Intense version - Intense hasn't the same fantastic fresh opening, but it's slightly less sweet and has a gorgeous smoky dry down. Smells like Dior Homme Intense if the lipstick-y iris note is replaced with a very vibrant baked cherry that lasts throughout. To conclude, I really love this EDT by Guerlain, so much so that I've made it my signature daily scent! I have the new bottle, so probably the reformulation; never smelled the original formulation, so I cannot draw comparisons. It may not last quite as long as before, in all honesty I wouldn't know, but I can definitely still smell it on myself after a long day out (7ish hours) which is a very good sign and is better than a lot of stuff I have worn before.
