We played the first few rounds one roll and one player at a time, until they had a handle on the sometimes confusing rule that you give up stuff you don’t want and take stuff you do. I was a little worried that my five and seven year old would not be able to handle the real time aspect of rolling and re-rolling dice to get the items.

Knockturn Alley is also less of a threat in this situation as you no longer need to enter buildings, although it is still a drawback as there are no spell points on the ground along Knockturn Alley. I am always on the lookout for a new family board game so when one of my neighbours was selling off a copy of the Harry Potter Diagon Alley game, I snapped it up without ever having heard of it before. The board is colourful and fun to look at, the playing pieces are colored Sorting Hats which are nicely chunky and the other pieces all look and feel good quality. Unfortunately we cannot deliver to BFPO addresses and some large items are shipped directly from our suppliers who ship to the UK mainland only. As for the setting, while it did not really feel like a Harry Potter movie because it is not that kind of game, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much they got into the spirit of the game. Every player also gets two of each type of coin ( Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts) and two Spell cards to begin the game with.The game ends when the cobblestone is empty and then players score one point for each complete set of the five items in their trunk.
