My last book haul comprised of illustrated books in varied genres and I couldn't resist adding the latest offering from David Walliams to the selection. Megamonster is an action-packed page-turning adventure from David Walliams, packed with brilliant illustrations by Tony Ross. He took up swimming in his youth because he was overweight, and has subsequently completed long distance swims of the English Channel, the Strait of Gibraltar and the River Thames, raising millions of pounds for charity! He went to art school in Liverpool and has since worked as a typographer for design and advertising agencies.

Megamonster is an action-packed page-turning adventure, set on an island in the middle of shark-infested waters – where the Cruel School stands on top of a dormant volcano. His books have now been translated into 40+ languages, and also include picture books illustrated by Tony Ross. When Larker is sent to the school for pulling a prank, she quickly realises something very odd is going on . It has been a while since Walliams wrote a story about a girl with wit as sharp as a smooth edge of paper, a delightful sense of humour, and courage that fails at nothing.

His tenth novel, BAD DAD, was an immediate number one, following the triumph of THE MIDNIGHT GANG, the biggest-selling children’s book of 2016. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. Whatever one can do, she will most likely do it better, simpler and quicker once she puts her mind to it. Here, you meet the weirdest characters caught in bizarre situations which are curiously entertaining. They have achieved unprecedented critical acclaim – and RATBURGER, DEMON DENTIST and AWFUL AUNTIE have all won the National Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year. Megamonster is now available in hardback, ebook and audiobook read by David himself alongside a star-studded cast. When Larker is sent to the school, she quickly realises something very odd is going on… something involving Doctor Doktur, a pair of strange spectacles, and a ‘Monsterfication Machine’. For more details, please consult the latest information provided by Royal Mail's International Incident Bulletin.

The lessons are appalling, the school dinners are revolting and the teachers are terrifying – especially the mysterious Science teacher, Doctor Doktur. We kept talking about how great it would be if there was a giant monster made up of all different monsters. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. I ended up staying an hour later at night still reading it, due to its cliffhangers at the end of each chapter.

I don't know about you but the way he plays with the greys on his palette makes them so incredibly detailed.

Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. I also enjoyed this book because in the school there are a bunch of horrible teachers that made me laugh. They are annoying, rude, and mean but there is a worthy lesson to be imbibed from the exciting adventure this book takes you on.When Larker is sent to the school, she quickly realises that VERY odd things are going on involving sinister Science teacher Doctor Doktur, a secret cave and a ‘Monsterfication Machine’. I love the use of pictures and there is one on every other page so you can picture the story better in your head. They like the level of scariness in this book, like the drawing and the humor, but there is a lot of idiomatic English and British terminology that you should be prepared to explain.
