About this deal

The writing was really rough and the story did not flow at all, and honestly it felt like an outline of a book instead of a completed novel. However, if queen cells are present, Hart warns it might be too late to slow the momentum for swarming. It actually worked out perfectly because the honey bound hive now had a place to lay eggs and the starving hive now had plenty of food. I loved Sage, and it was so fun seeing my current favorite coffee in a book because it's not super common. Hopefully they will use this honey to build comb on the new frames you’ve just given them, and the queen will use those to lay eggs in.

My only complaints would be that it felt rushed toward the end and I wish there had been a bit more time to get to know the characters even better.

We didn’t realize we’d get any honey…and really didn’t want to take any…UNLESS there was an excess while a nectar flow was on. I love a little tease from the book before I read it and the scene with Sage and a baby dragon is by far my favorite from the whole book.

Definitely recommend this to fantasy readers who are looking for a fun, sweet, fast-paced story with just a little bit of romance (no spice, just sweet with one fade to black moment). If the broodnest is pretty well packed with honey/syrup/nectar, I would not feed for a week, even if in a dearth, and check what’s happening in 5-7 days (do not go longer than this unless you are confident you know there is a strong flow right now and they aren’t just backfilling with the syrup you’ve been feeding them). True, it is often said that a single Queen cell in the middle of a frame is indicative of supercedure and multiple Queen cells at the tops and bottoms of frames is an indication of swarming. The bottom super was almost empty yesterday before I moved the 4 frames with honey and a small amount of brood over from Squill. It is not too late to get a queen mated, but it is real late to get any honey after requeening delays.

I took every single frame out of the first deep and discovered three things: they have completed a supercedure/swarm queen cell that is capped and awaiting hatch, located at the bottom of one of the frames. There were a couple minor editing mistakes, but they were easy to overlook and didn’t disturb the flow of the story.
