Iconic Edinburgh has a long-standing history of selling quality vintage items and antiques in Scotland. April 1937: A game of football between the 'Eels' and the 'Flounders' in the mud by the waterside at Hythe, near Southampton to raise funds for the local coronation celebrations.

I feel that Beyond Blue’s greatest achievement is that the screenshots and trailers don’t exactly do these environs justice.Once the mechanical momentum follows suit about three quarters of the way through, the end of the game feels like an unrewarding slog, especially so on the Golden Wildfire route where the narrative rewards for completing the game are essentially nonexistant. Marianne for example causes snow to fall and freeze enemies when her hit count reaches a certain value while Lysithea instead builds up a meter that allows her to execute an attack which launches enemies towards a point in front of her. Both were played on normal difficulty in casual mode (no permadeath), with one run being a new game+ playthrough.

However, I’ve seen documentaries on them, read books about them, and even had the chance to watch dolphins leap beside my tour boat once. I enjoy games with this sort of structure as having a variety of activities keeps me from burning out – doing a mission gives me resources that I am then motivated to go and use at camp, and getting the new bonuses at camp motivates me to head back out to the battlefield to try out my new weapon, class, or to build up a support relationship I really want to see. However, my experience thus far has been more a poor man’s aquarium trip, rather than a true dive into the depths. Here’s an example from the Golden Deer route: Lorenz Gloucester’s father Erwin is portrayed in the first game as a power-hungry, scheming count.

This adds an element of assessing other players’ chances and allows for the scenario where the player with the most complete Flounders is not felt to be ‘in the lead’. The playing pieces are in good condition considering their age and use, as is the box which has some slight wear to the edges and some ink on one side to the word “Floundering” (see photos). And this is where I found Beyond Blue most engaging and most meaningful – the mere experience of the ocean.

Rolling a 6 and a 1 and catching whole Flounders from right under my nose really gets him going and I can see why. So, there was this game that I used to play on 2000's on my mom's old computer with a blue and yellow little fish, pretty much like Flounder from The Little Mermaid Disney movie. I just wanted to ogle more sea critters, but to get to new areas with more wildlife I had to complete my scans. Once you hit a point where you no longer care about what classes your characters are mastering, what materials you are earning from missions, or what supports you are unlocking, you’re left just kind of moving from mission to mission to progress the main story. Or if it’s too complicated to say “you have to take from the middle until they’ve run out” then just let him take from wherever he fancies.
