This book is excellent for someone who wants to know more about Krishna's pastimes,when he was among us. The acharya also emphasised the importance of the book since, although Krishna's name was now being heard throughout the West, people had no knowledge of the deity's life or his physical appearance. This impermanent body, a bag of bones and flesh, is mistaken for our true self, and we have accepted this temporary condition to be final.

At age sixty-nine, with forty rupees and a trunk of his Bhagavatam commentaries - the first ever in English - his aim was to introduce "India's message of peace and goodwill" to the western world. This supreme translation by his Divine Grace Swami Prabhupada as well as his Disciples is purest gift to the humanity which every possible living being should read. It is said, therefore, that a saintly person can tolerate all kinds of miserable conditions of life, a learned man can discharge his duties without awaiting favorable circumstances, a heinous person like Kaṁsa can act in any sinful way, and a devotee can sacrifice everything to satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead.At that time, the whole world became perturbed, and the predominating deity of this earth, known as Bhūmi, went to see Lord Brahmā to tell of her calamities due to the demoniac kings. I am a big fan of Advaita Vedanta which is quite similar to the teachings of Plotinus (the One); however with one added ingredient.

Prabhupada’s book ‘Krsna: The Supreme Personality of Godhead’ shows that greatness in all of its splendour. Those who are addicted to unrestricted sense gratification can never be truthful, nor can they be trusted with any faith. If you simply follow these four principles, simply thinking of Krsna, simply, always, sa vai manah krsna-padaravindayoh. Nārada warned Kaṁsa to be careful of them, since Kaṁsa and his friends and advisors were all demons.

Because you will understand Krsna, what is Krsna, and here it is said, janma karma ca me divyam ye janati tattvatah. Along with Ramon Mahesh's translation/condensation, this is my favorite version in English of what to me is the greatest, most moving text of Indian spirituality.
