A blend of Jamaican and Bajan Rums, spiced only with natural and vegan ingredients and Brough together by a cold, low and slow maceration process. Aged for eight years and finished in ex-bourbon casks, it has a gorgeous honeyed mellowness, with soft vanilla and rich fruitcake flavours that, for this correspondent, are better suited to fireside curling-up than clubbing.

I can imagine this being a great rum for cooking things such as BBQ sauce, Rum cakes, and Christmas desserts or desserts in general. Responsible for the production of their Asolo Prosecco DOCG, the family takes great care in nurturing the vines, with the hope that the terroir of the land is captured within the fruit and that it speaks its greatness and shares its secrets in nobility and its richness in spirit. The team didn’t cut corners here and even delayed the launch to make sure that it was of the best quality. I’m going to sound mad geeky here but the top is my favourite part of the design with its flat top and extended lip allowing for a seamless pour.

Las Olas is a unique blend of different white rums from the Caribbean and includes aromatic notes of vanilla, gold cherry, and roasted coffee beans. You can have a classic rum and coke like with did with a dash of lemon and ice or you can be adventurous with it. We like a cheeky 40% so we were ready to see how serious this truly was (if you didn’t know how much East African’s drink before, now you do).com) Rum in the UK has come a long way since the days when your choice down the pub was a tot of dark Royal Navy or a splash of white Bacardi with your Coke. In all honesty, most rums are very similar so it really is all about the look just as much as the taste and this one is certainly ticking this box. In addition to the rum itself the bottle is possible the best looking bottle of any alcohol I've personally ever come across, any challenged by perhaps the Bumbu XO bottle. The likes of vanilla, roasted coffee beans, and gold cherry impart layers of character to explore – superb sipped neat over ice, and we can imagine this working rather well in a twist on an Espresso Martini.

Perfect on the rocks, exquisite in cocktails, Las Olas premium spiced rum is always a memorable serve. There are many different brands of spiced rum available on the market, each with its own unique flavour profile.

The vanilla notes are velvety, the coffee undertones add depth, and the dry golden cherries provide a delightful hint of sweetness. For anyone wondering, this is my genuine opinion so don’t think I’m being sponsored to do this (though I wouldn’t say no to a free bottle - hint hint). I remember going to trade shows and I’m not sure if this was race related or because I was young and they couldn’t believe I had a brand of my own, but I just felt the respect wasn’t there, and then a person of another race would walk past a stall and get the best reception. It is our mission to bring rum to the forefront of people’s minds, and make it more of an obvious drink of choice to be savoured, rather than something to be hidden away and disguised within cocktail blends. The cap is the only part made from plastic but it has an integrated cork to seal the bottle which I really like as well.
