Mr Benn has an idea to let out some of the gas, diverting it horizontally with the drain pipe to provide a form of jet propulsion. As soon as he puts it on, he finds himself transported to a mysterious jungle full of snakes, elephants, and hunters. The Baron cheats again by having a man on a horse tow his balloon, but the animal becomes frightened and runs in the wrong direction. Mr Benn helps King Neptune and his mermaid friend outwit the crews of two submarines, who are out to find and photograph the King's pet sea monster.

A red suit of armour catches Mr Benn’s eye, and when he tries it on he finds himself transported to a land full of castles, dungeons and dragons! So many of the full page spreads in these books are worthy of hanging in an art gallery and the playful, retro visuals guide you through each story with a variety of cool graphic styles on display. The Mr Benn books were originally reissued by The Tate Gallery a few years ago and these editions feel just as nice and premium, perfect for showcasing McKee’s brilliant artwork and designs.Mr Benn helps a boy outwit an evil man, with the aid of the magic carpet that came with his costume and a little magic courtesy of a genie in a bottle. I have been reading this book to my son since he was three and as time has gone on he can now read it to himself but also enjoys having it read still. Fortunately, Mr Benn and his friends come up with an ingenious plan to save all the gladiators and give the Emperor a taste of his own medicine.
