This must have been at least twenty years ago though. Would be interesting to know if LEGO still has such a program. Alas, peasants like us won't find out about that anymore nowadays, as TLG will surely want to keep this secret. " Lego™ is clear on the direction they are heading- ever better designs and ever larger prices. This set is something that makes me want to stay on that cool-ass bandwagon!" Overall, we have a suitably grand base for Bowser to stand on, matching his overinflated sense of Self importance. I think Bowser's head looks outstanding. The rounded nostrils and prominent snout correspond with the video game character, while his majestic red hair and bushy eyebrows are marvellous too. The eyebrows' position can be adjusted, creating an opportunity for less aggressive facial expressions, as shown below. I am happy to give this set 4 Arbitrary Praise Units out of 5 for these reasons. If you are an adult fan of LEGO looking for a giant Bowser to display it is perfect. If you are a Mech or Monster builder, this set has things to teach you. I built it up over four evenings, but I could have happily savoured it over longer, if not for other pressures. There are buttons on the side of the body which serve to rotate the his head, while another lever opens his mouth. Open it just a little too far and Bowser starts breathing fire balls, or at least launches a dart which is designed to look like the afore mentioned fireball. I was also impressed by the expressions afforded by the moveable eyebrows.I don’t want to give TLG any ideas but imagine if they started making sets for millionaires, pricing-out most of the regular AFOL market. Bowser stands on a base which takes advantage of the myriad of shapes now available in dark stone grey tiles, providing the appearance of a gravel path with stepping stones. Summary

The internal Technic structure provides a strong base for the shell, again minimising the hollow space inside. These supports blend seamlessly with the angular construction of the outer shell, creating the complex external shape. Furthermore, clips and Technic pins combine to reinforce Bowser's shell and the colourful elements shown below are completely hidden. And here’s a look at his soft and vulnerable underbelly, as well as his studded choker and bracelets. Overall I was impressed at the degree of articulation and posability in the model. The leg position is fairly fixed while the model is standing on the ground, but they hang limp when you lift the model up. Bowsers tale can bend a little, and helps to support the standing model. Here’s a look at Bowser’s large arms – I love how they managed to get his sausage-like fingers and claws so nicely.This is a creature build first and foremost, and you slowly build Bowser up limb by limb – Bowser’s shell is a treat to build, and I’m amazed at how the design team got the angles to fit in so incredibly well. The Mighty Bowser might be one of my favourite LEGO builds of 2022. The build was unlike anything I’ve ever done as the design team takes you to strange places, and with some really top-notch techniques to fill in gaps, and introduce curves, and all of Bowser’s features. So we’re just going to ignore the other 50% of the Mario line that’s well within a kid-set-budget? Are we trying to say that every set needs to be kid sized?" LEGO looks to repeat that feat once again with The Mighty Bowser, which has tremendous display presence because of its sheer size, but also has some really clever playable features built into it. An enormous flame yellowish orange and trans-orange missile is concealed inside the mouth, recreating Bowser's ability to shoot fireballs. The missile launches automatically after opening the mouth to a certain point, sometimes more readily than planned! Nevertheless, the function works nicely for play, without affecting the model's appearance on display. Here’s The Mighty Bowser in all its glory, and boy, is it massive. As you build The Mighty Bowser, it begins to dawn on you just how crazy the scale of this set is.
