I prefer/need as little isolation as possible and reading comments like this and the fact that the 1990s are indeed way more closed than other open backs kind of deter me away.

The dt1990 overall sounded more exciting due to that peak, which may be a good thing for solely listening to music, but may be a slight disadvantage in terms of mixing audio. There were no particular areas of the frequency response that really stood out to me on the DT 1990 Pro. The Amplifier/DAC used in this review was the JDS Labs Element II connected via USB to my desktop computer. But others have said that sibilance refers to the frequency response region of 5khz to 8kHz (sometimes even higher) that deviates higher than a particular target curve.

It is made almost entirely out of metal, yet the headphone remains fairly lightweight at a cool 370g.They are all boosted in the high end, but the 990 has 3 peaks, the 900 Pro has a broad peak and the 1990 has a narrow peak (bit higher freq than the others). Here it may be just perfect after a couple of months, I guess thats why its such a strong grip to begin with, its supposed to be more comfortable over time.
