The beautiful indigo blue that adorns the bottle and gift box of this bottling is considered the sacred colour of this deity. The only distillery in the country, it has mastered the manufacturing of its rum which it produces from local raw materials which express all the richness and complexity of the landscape. Indigo Rum is handcrafted at the distillery in El Salvador and barrel aged in ex-Bourbon oak casks for 8 years. The name "Indigo" was inspired by the color blue, which was crafted by the ancient Maya using the Indigo flower (añil). In the heart of every bottle of Cihuatán Indigo lies the Sleeping Woman, Mayan goddess and guardian of the Cihuatán valley. Legend has it that the sleeping woman, the guardian goddess of the Cihuatán Valley, would negotiate on behalf of the Cihuatán people so that Tlaloc the Mayan God of Rain would make the valley ‘bloom’. Therefore the teams control the quality of their products, from the harvest of sugar cane to bottling, including distillation and aging. At Cihuatán, we cherish and celebrate this curiosity that drives us all to learn, explore, grow and enjoy life.In Mayan language, Cihuatán means "the earth next to the sleeping woman" in reference to the Guazapa Mountain whose lines reveal the shape of a woman, goddess who would have conferred wealth and fertility to the surrounding lands.

Cihuatán Indigo presents tasting notes such as Vanilla, Cappuccino, Dark Chocolate, Lemongrass, Hazelnut and Artisanal Dulce de Leche, and it can be enjoyed neat, with a mixer or in a cocktail, it is very versatile and easy to mix.

Nicolas, N°1 in the distribution of wines in France in the city center and elected favorite brand of the French. Cihuatán Indigo is an 8-year-old rum, produced in El Salvador by the Licorera Cihuatán distillery, with an ABV of 40%.

Legend has it that the Sleeping Woman would intercede on behalf of the people of Cihuatán so that Tlaloc would make the valley bloom. From El Salvador comes the Cihuatan Indigo Rum which has been aged for a minimum of 8 years inside American Oak ex-bourbon barrels. A less complex body and a shorter tail are balanced by a pleasant sweet taste that will satisfy even less demanding rum drinkers. The identification of similar rums is based on the community's tasting notes and the key data of the rum. The same curiosity lead Cihuatán to create El Salvador’s first rum, crafted by hand in the heart of the Cihuatán valley.
