About this deal

With such acute lucidity and intellectual elegance, Eisendrath has mapped out an unlikely geography of feeling and ideas that culminates into a passion for the life of the mind and the life of books.

For those that enjoy travel and cloud spotting, they keep a copy at home, but they also pack it up with them when they travel. You can pick up a lot of scientific books that talk about the different clouds and get you better acquainted and you can also pick up something that’s a lot more complex if you are already well-versed when it comes to cloud formations. Every mood and every situation this this rich sport can conjure up … A terrific cross-section of some of the most inspiring writing about the entire spectrum of our sport.Rachel Eisendrath's Gallery of Clouds reads like strings of improvised images in the margins of Sir Philip Sidney's Elizabethan romance Arcadia.

If anything can provide that lift, this little book can; it's also great for anyone looking for a reading for a special occasion. The mysterious chalk scores on the wall of the underground bowling alley and the sinister outline of a missing picture on the wall of the upstairs apartment are held in delicate, suggestive balance. And once you’ve discovered all the names for clouds, you probably still haven’t considered what clouds dream about, or how they dance, or how rain sounds like piano chords. I’m not a musician; I’m just a filmmaker, and my prayer is that you get an opportunity—both through the reading of this beautiful book and the watching of our film based on it—to experience what I will fail to put into the magic and inspiration of Zachary David Sobiech. This is a lovely, gentle story about friendship, family and grief, written and printed in a dyslexia friendly format. The book includes fun outdoor activities , incredible photographs, simple stories, and lots of information. js, which is an older version of Google Analytics and is used in conjunction with the __utmb cookie to determine new sessions/visits. On good days, he plays in the garden with his father and imagines that his mother has made their day brighter. They say that it’s a fantastic resource for identifying and understanding the different types of clouds.

The book will take you on a mesmerising journey to a place that no other books have ventured – inside the nebulae, where stars are born. With 25 poems and many full-page illustrations that use watercolour and collage, you won’t be able to pick The Book of Clouds up without wanting to immediately start making your own cloud diary.

Now don’t get me wrong, I would still highly recommend this book especially if you’re interested in learning more about Zach’s story but I think everyone needs to go into this knowing that it’s written in a very “stream of consciousness” style which I wasn’t exactly a fan of. When we speak of clouds these days, it is as likely that we mean data clouds or network clouds as cumulus or stratus. I have never met Zach in person, but I do believe that lots of people love him dearly up until his last breath. I can't imagine writing about the death of my beloved child and the story does jump around a bit but the message is important and kudos to Laura Sobiech for sharing her heart and bringing Zach's voice and legacy to light.
