About this deal

The Perkeo collection by Kaweco features beautiful and sleek fountain pens available in four original colours and two nib sizes, fine and medium. We specialise in hard to find and international magazine titles including Apartamento, L'Étiquette, Popeye and Gentlewoman along with a range of fiction and non-fiction books from a wide range of independent publishers. It is the DNA in the cap with it’s octagonal shape with facets that look like they have been sanded down leaving the curved ends behind. The Perkeo, which I have reviewed previously in this blog, is made of a tough plastic with a sixteen sided barrel and an eight sided, pull-off cap.

I think it is a mixture of the interesting colour combinations and the general toughness of the designs and materials you find in this sector that I like. Perkeo pens have an octagonal cap and barrel, a stainless steel nib and a comfortable triangular grip. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. I don't quite understand why any pen manufacturer would fit their product in such a way to limit their audience, but there you go.This pen boasts a classic look with its cylindrical body and simple lines, reminiscent of fountain pens from the early 20th century.

Quality control seems (from this sample of one) to be better than on the Sports — I experienced no hard starting or skipping, which suggests no baby’s bottom. It has a transparent ink feeder, so you can watch the ink on its journey through the pen and out onto the paper! But as said, over a short time the looks did grow on me, with the converter gradually emptying being part of that. Im trying to decide if I should get a kaweco sport or a kaweco perkeo as my second fountain pen, I already have a lamy safari in medium nib. Certainly, the nibs move across the paper surface with considerable ease allowing more freedom for speed, movement and expression. Kaweco has updated their old 1900s dip pen design into a new entry-level, full-size fountain pen--and I'm quite smitten with it.

But the new colour-schemes really add something, especially the splendid ‘breezy teal’ and the icily cool demonstrator version with its unusual clear feed. Perhaps being a left hander, I am more sensitive to having a nib on the wet side, particularly for lefty overwriting. The cap is a snap fit, which is nice and convenient but I found the feel on closing to be a bit… imprecise. To recap briefly; this is a Kaweco’s entry-level offering for those who find the budget version of the Sport a little too diminutive.

I used one of my own converters and inked with Aoinibi, which I figured would be a perfect match for the blue of the cap. The next pen would be an EF nib no matter which one, it would be mostly for writing, with blue ink (Oxford Blue the love of my life), because I want to use my lamy mostly for art, since the nib is quite broad and I like that when drawing, also wanna put some fun color on it.
