About this deal

We bought this for a holiday to Vietnam and found it impossible to work with and the information it gave was, to say the least, sketchy. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, this guide is an essential resource for unlocking the wonders of Vietnam. Over the past four decades, we've printed over 145 million guidebooks and grown a dedicated, passionate global community of travellers. Vietnam is also a special case - really think that everyone's best bet is word of mouth from a really close friend. Looking for a comprehensive guide that recommends both popular and offbeat experiences, and extensively covers all the country has to offer?

It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. There is often a focus on a few interesting facts from specific periods (sometimes random, often the American War) instead of a general overview of the history of the place. This is a pretty good guidebook with good maps, information on many sights, background information, but some weaknesses in information on transportation. Important Notice: The digital edition of this book may not contain all of the images found in the physical edition. It offers insightful tips, detailed itineraries, and local insights, making it a comprehensive companion for exploring both popular sights and lesser-known destinations.

That said, sometimes you can pay a few more dollars and fly – the more convenient but less sustainable option. Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. If you’re looking to drive a motorbike yourself, it’s best to save it for one of the quieter destinations like Hoi An, Dalat or Phu Quoc.Ex Vietnamese nationals who have emigrated are more likely to be harrassed by customs than Non Vietnamese travellers. Also, because most Vietnamese are not confident with spoken English despite learning it in school, people tend to ignore lost-looking foreigners unless you actually ask for help. Kayak around towering limestone peaks in Halong Bay; wander the warren-like lanes of Hoi An’s Old Town; and sample the tastiest local specialities (and learn to cook them yourself) -all with your trusted travel companion. Designed for first-time thrill-seekers and experienced enthusiasts alike, each book showcases 200 unmissable activities along with awe-inspiring photos, engaging first-hand accounts, and practical advice on how to get there, where to stay and what to eat along the way.
