Recreate that old 1920s’ speakeasy ambience - try dimly-lit lighting with luxurious golds, blacks and reds with velvets and satins. I asked each of our guests for their “mug shot” before we started play and put together this compilation. Located in the lobby of a building built in 1907, The Option Room agreed to let us use the space for a reasonable drink minimum (easily reached by 35 guests all paying a flat fee).

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The dialogue was a bit repetitive in nature and because it was written in a script format it made it a little difficult to follow the overall development of the plot because you had to pay close attention to when it was your turn in the script but it was fun.

Would highly recommend sending the packs to people a few days before like the instructions say – gives everyone lots of time to get into character.Unlike other murder mystery kits she’s tried before this one was awesome and had everyone playing for over two hours. Essential Printing Required by host or guests (unless players use a device to read): invites, pre-party booklets and party booklets = 6 A4 pages per person (if double-sided) or 12 A4 pages per player (if single-sided). The download was easy and quick and everyone got really into the game, with what limited supplies we had being used to make props! Always remember with soufflé to take pictures asap as it will deflate quickly, clearly I did not get that memo here! I can’t wait to just have something fun to do at a party that doesn’t involve minute-to-win-it games. If you have fewer than 15 guests you will have to drop a character (which may affect the plot), or play a character yourself (not ideal, but I talk about it here), or even ask a guest to play two characters at once. Although the game starts with a murder, each character has several goals they must try to accomplish. When a flapper is found shot to death outside the club, the management and loyal patrons of The Half Moon Club scramble to identify the killer before the police catch wind of the killing and shut down the juice joint for good! However, one of the names on the guest list is also on another’s hit list… and no one is safe from the consequences.

The game was super organized and worked well, even though half of the party-goers had not read through their roles in advance! guests then receive a second envelope, at which point, the killer is told they are the killer (true–I didn’t know any of those fun details as I wanted to play along as well! It’s 1923, and the speakeasy is packed for the birthday party of Al Spumoni, the world-famous bootlegger and ice cream tycoon. But if you still want to host a game and play a character (or you have to because a player cannot attend), I have advice on doing that here.
