About this deal

Each product is crafted with precision and a meticulous approach, ensuring that it not only serves its purpose but also stands the test of time. This very practical kettle also has a thermally insulated base, which allows it to be placed directly on any surface. The product’s very name—Plissé—declares its sculptural nature: like a fabric transformed into a three-dimensional shape by a thick pleating, this kettle is reminiscent of an haute couture dress, a beautiful object sculpted by a fashion designer. The lids does feel a little flimsy and doesn’t separate fully from the kettle but you soon get used to this.

Alessi’s mission is now one of translating its quest for the most advanced cultural, aesthetic, design and functional quality into mass production. Reflecting designer Michele De Lucchi's architectural background as well as the drapery of an haute couture dress, the Plissé Electric Kettle is an appliance elevated to art. He realized architectural projects in Italy and abroad, spanning from industrial to cultural landmarks. The Product Sustainability Framework, our criteria of sustainable design, helps you find the most sustainable products in our selection.

My mum has limited movement in her hand and struggled to use our other kettles and finds this one super simple as it’s so light weight. Michele De Lucchi, born in 1951, has been a protagonist of avant-garde architecture and design since the 1970s. Designed by Michele de Lucchi, the Plisse range combines function and design with the creator's architectural background. The folded design turns the kettle into a sculptural object that stands out for its timeless beauty.

A MAX symbol on the inside of the kettle indicates the maximum level of water that the kettle is capable of holding. And when questions arose (regarding a bookshelf that needed clever assembly), their representatives in Finland were so helpful and thoughtful. The objects produced from the different materials are manufactured in various production plants across the world. Inspired by a time-honoured technique found in the fashion industry, the Pliss é Kettle is defined by its sculptural folds. By mediating between the most interesting expressions of worldwide creativity and the public, Alessi has built an ecosystem of everyday objects capable of fulfilling dreams and satisfying the public’s desires.

Coming from a very ancient technique, this folding method applied to this kettle is undeniably similar to the one that you can find on haute couture clothes. It also looks great, I don’t feel the need to try and hide it away - I like seeing it on my counter tops and everyone always notices it and admires it.

So it's a kettle and it does what I need it to do - but out in the kitchen it doesn't look as good as I hoped. Two Alessi designs are represented in MoMA's collection: David Chipperfield's Piana Chair from 2010, and Philippe Starck's Ceci N'est Pas une Truelle Cake Server from 1996. His work balances functionality, aesthetics, and material exploration, inspiring future generations in the design field. Designed by Michele De Lucchi, the Plissé kettle combines functional aspects with a plastic and fascinating design that reveals the creator's architectural background, as well as his passion for the handicraft and for sculpture. Combining innovation and artistry, it sports a long, pleated resin body and refrains from using any fussy details for a truly modern, minimalistic sign off.

Smaller items will be dispatched via DPD and should be with you within 3-5 working days, larger items can take longer to deliver. Over the years, the brand has partnered with renowned names like Philippe Starck, Alessandro Mendini, and Stefano Giovannoni, among others.

Hello, I have just purchased this kettle, and as much as I do like the design and looks, I’m confused as to why the kettle ‘wobbles’ when it is on the base.DESIGN NOTES: Elegant: A kettle like a haute couture dress, a splendid object to be left in sight that borrows the visual codes of haute couture. Puro diseño, el enchufe no es el español, y lo veo algo caro, pero calienta muy rápido (pero que muy rápido) y es muy cómodo, es de plástico por fuera y acero por dentro. Functional: Also ideal in the studio or office, to prepare a tea or an infusion dedicating a special moment. Elegant down to the smallest details, Plissé is available in black or white and its power supply base has been hidden inside of the kettle. One of the hallmarks of Alessi's design philosophy is its attention to detail and the use of high-quality materials.
