About this deal

They were funny and had their own personalities and storylines, which I really appreciated (plus clinical depression rep – woo! The collection transports readers to Iceland’s timeless and magical island of Vikings and geographical wonders, promising to be a seminal collection that will define Icelandic literature in translation for decades to come. Thereafter, we see the balance shift in the Jurassic period, before burrows of safety protect early mammals when ‘ an asteroid hits Earth’ eradicating all large animals. Out of the Blue is a thought-provoking, informative and thorough non-fiction picture book of the evolution of our planet that we recommend highly.

It's really nice to see not only a whole society of people without a gender binary, but also a love interest happily using they/them pronouns and no one flinching.Sean is plus-sized, and the book is in general very body-positive; there’s realistic representation of depression; and it’s a queer-accepting, sex-positive book as a whole. Despite his professional closeness to Truss, Cole and his co-author strive to put some distance between them in their final reflections on where it all went wrong. This next part might be minorly spoilery, but it’s only to do with the need for a true ‘romance’ to have a Happy Ever After or Happy For Now rather than the actual events in the ending of the book. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).

Set against the backdrop of a society trying to come to grips with the possibility of a world beyond, Out of the Blue is the story of how one unexpected turn of events can put you on a path toward healing. Aside from a mention of some people glaring at them for their androgynous outfit, all the characters accepted it and at no point was there drama because of it. Here, an extraordinary pair of earrings showcase two mesmerising unenhanced purple sapphires of over 4 total carats, each nestled within a layout of diamond and gold coral motifs. Obviously, there's nothing wrong about that, but I personally prefer it when romances don't focus as much on the sexual aspect, that's it.My biggest issue which made the last part of the book a real struggle for me: The only thing I hate more than not-happy endings, is not-happy endings that the characters telegraph for you beforehand. Both the Viking myths of Iceland’s forefathers and the cutting-edge modern world of the country today are brilliantly alive in these remarkable and original stories.

Two days later, The Guardian reported HarperCollins's intention to publish Out of the Blue: The Inside Story of Liz Truss and Her Astonishing Rise to Power, to be written by Harry Cole, the politics editor at The Sun, and James Heale, the diary editor at The Spectator, with a planned publication date of 8 December. This one is tough to review, largely because I'm so torn between the things I loved about it and the stuff that just really didn't land. The magical realism is brilliantly handled; Teacake the angel is an especially memorable and totally convincing character. At the same time, angels – or winged Beings – start falling from the sky, and the world is changed forever by it.
