About this deal

What I don’t like about it: For the first couple of chapters, who Violet was as a character was a little too ambiguous. If this went from a semi open door book to a closed door romance, again — it would still be just as enjoyable! Louisa was my favorite and made me think of the summer I was able to spend in Italy and all the amazing people I met. Their animosity (and undeniable chemistry) grows as together they’re forced to face a summer of chic parties, adventures through Rome and sharing a home…with the person they can’t stand the most. With nothing left to lose, Violet plans to win the competition among the interns for the ultimate prize—a job at a New York label. Later, the interns discover they’ll be staying in the lavish villa of an eccentric professor and at their welcome dinner, Violet discovers that Matt (evil café Matt) is Matteo, the professor’s son. A delectable enemies-to-lovers summertime rom-com set in Rome about an American interning at a fashion house who butts heads with the designer’s surly son and sparks fly. They’re horrified to be living together, and their angry/witty antics carry on through daily run-ins, chic fashion parties and adventures through Rome. She was a preschool teacher for several years and now focuses full-time on combining her two great passions--writing swoon-worthy love stories and making people laugh. There are quite a few different tropes woven into it, such as forced proximity and enemies to lovers, and it was a wonderful romcom that I would definitely watch if it were made into a movie. She gets to spend a month in Rome, Italy, interning at a popular fashion house and competing against two of her fellow classmates for the chance to secure a job at a major label back home in NYC. Or I should clarify that what you think will be success and what you achieve and the journey to get there. Annabel Monaghan’s new novel Same Time Next Summer features my favorite kind too – childhood sweethearts who are reunited after years apart.

Violet and Matt go on a weekend trip to Capri and stay in what sounds like the most magical oceanfront hotel in existence. Bromley’s appealing debut sees a New York City romance novelist thrown back together with a hated ex.While Violet and Matt do have some great moments together and some really fun banter, I didn’t feel like the romance was strong enough. Violet Luciano, a passionate fashion student, is working as an intern at a popular fashion brand in Rome, Italy, and competing with two other classrooms for a job at a New York label.

Her struggles with self doubt, feeling inadequate with her work, and feeling too old to pursue her dreams is definitely something I could relate to and I loved that it was a featured element in her story. I really liked her, and she gets a cute little side romance that I found myself wishing was the main romance because she is so likeable and the guy is pretty swoony. What I like about it: I will admit at first, I wasn’t sure if this book was for me but when Violet shifts from killing Matteo with kindness to petty payback, I was hooked. I loved Violet immediately and despite Matt's grumpy demeanor, his witty sarcasm had me wrapped around his finger.Bromley skillfully explores themes of mental health, self-reflection, and embracing one's true self. With nothing left to lose, Violet plans to win the competition among the interns for the ultimate prize--a job at a New York label.
