Fast X may come good with its concluding part(s) but it's really more of a bloated mess than even this franchise can sustain - with Momoa a tremendous addition, but numerous scenes (which take up over a third of its ridiculous runtime) desperate to be cut entirely, making it feel like this really was an exercise in stretching a single Fast movie into multiple instalments, for money. Dante's plot will scatter Dom's family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica.

None of that changes the technical proficiency of the video presentation itself, but it does diminish its potential for demo material, with only really the bookending sequences proving visual highlights. More lethal than any other enemy they've faced, Dante now rises as a terrifying new nemesis who's fueled by revenge and determined to shatter their family and destroy everything and everyone Dom loves. Judicious editing, and/or, frankly, more focus on Vin Diesel's lead (it's unsurprising that his scenes fare the best, as they've clearly invested the majority of the budget on them) could have left this a much more satisfying instalment in a franchise that really doesn't have to do that much to satisfy its fans. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they've ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who's fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything�and everyone�that Dom loves, forever. WCG, HDR and Dolby Vision all come into play to gift it a very healthy palette and deep black levels too, and whilst it's not eye-popping (moments aside), there are some welcome highlights mostly courtesy of the cars and the explosions with, once again, that final act boasting the most screen-searing intensity of the whole feature.
