About this deal

We need to stop policing and blaming women for everything - their own safety, their own assault, their own discrimination and essentially most things they ever do - and hold our white male privileged figures of authority to account. This is essential reading for absolutely everyone, it made my stomach turn and made me incredibly sad. I was haunted by the story of a woman attacked by her ex-husband, who smashed her head so hard against a BMW that it dented the bodywork and left her needing hospital treatment. She was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to gender equality in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2015 and has been named woman of the year by Cosmopolitan, Red Magazine and The Sunday Times Magazine.

This distracts us from the real problem: the failings and biases of a society that was not built for women. A story of breath-taking dealings that range from Riyadh to London, Paris to America, this is a thrilling and brutal investigation into extreme wealth, one of the world's most decisive and dangerous new leaders, and the bid for Saudi transformation that is reverberating around the world. Ferdinand Mount opens up a fascinating exploration of how and why Caesars seize power and why they fall. Maybe the lady is from a different generation and those who she collected data from (experiences) but a lot of the things didn't seem to be common in my generation, maybe they were flattened. I've felt enraged and exhausted in equal parts while reading this, especially with our current day situation.I find this to be a powerful, thought-provoking opener, as I think some women, myself included may not realise that certain behaviour, is actually sexism, and we were the victims of that. Bates begins her book with a list of times where she knows she was assaulted or a target of blatant sexism.

If readers are interested in a more academic book looking at similar topics could I recommend 'The Incel Rebellion: The Rise of the Manosphere and the Virtual War Against Women' by Lisa Sugiura. Lo he sentido como un combustible en el alma porque según iba leyendo me iba enfadando, y/o activando (Como prefieras interpretarlo) He sentido frustración, enfado, ira, pena y empoderamiento con cada página que pasaba. Exploring everything from eradicated black history to the inextricable link between class and race, Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race is the essential handbook for anyone who wants to understand race relations in Britain today. There are Big Caesars who set out to achieve total social control and Little Caesars who merely want to run an agreeable kleptocracy without opposition: from Julius Caesar and Oliver Cromwell through Napoleon and Bolivar, to Mussolini, Salazar, De Gaulle and Trump. For women reading this book a lot of the topics/stories covered and information provided is either well known or completely entrenched into the fibre of our being — we live this daily. This book examines how everyday accounts of sexism have become so ingrained into daily life that not only do we not even notice them half the time, but they've infiltrated and infected every structure of society. Too often, decisions about whether or not to proceed to trial for rape rely on whether the woman fits the societal profile of the “perfect victim”: ie, those who are “sweet and pretty and innocent and careful and didn’t stray off the path or talk to the wolf”. Combining stories with shocking evidence, Fix the System, Not the Women is a blazing examination of sexual injustice and a rallying cry for reform.
