It was darker, more angsty, there was some drama and suspense, and the story took place mainly in winter. And of course you have the whole scary villain character and story line Remi is all secretive about. He’s intense need, love, admiration, irritation and every other explosive feeling he has for her is what kept me reading. I did promise her we would start a relationship and then fled our hometown instead of talking to her again.

Lucy Score truly knows how to bring a unique, vibrant, fun, and compelling story to all her books and with each book of hers that I read, I not only fall more in love with Lucy, but her characters! I really liked the small town vibe, Remi and Brick’s back and forth banter with each other, always challenging each other, never a dull moment with those two. but the h having once been with his brother and him having married her best friend is a little too much keeping it in the family for me. Her side character development is pretty great, as I was invested in her sister and friend and even the niece and nephew were well developed.The setting of Mackinac Island, Brick and Remi’s second chance at love, I truly enjoyed all of the characters and the story.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved Brick being a grumpy, possessive, overprotective man, but sometimes he needed to cool off since Remi felt he was judging her. So let’s sum it up - the sex was like a day at the mud hole - dirty, wet, endless and ridiculous with a lot of monster trucks. Not to mention, his frequent sporting of a steel rod in his pants at the slightest provocation in those situations between them. I had to edit my original thoughts, I didn't even read the blurb before getting this because this is an author I sorta trusted.
