About this deal

Optiaroma allows to regulate the amount of ground coffee used per cup, for a light or strong taste according to one’s preferences.

So I mentioned to Raj that I should really spend a week or so with each bean to cup machine, so I can do proper user reviews for my readers – a big percentage of which I know are bean to cup machine users. What’s important to remember is that the grind can only be adjusted during operation — which is common with super automatic espresso machines. In case of an emergency — like realizing you’re out of coffee beans on a Monday morning — yeah, you can make do with pre-ground coffee. The other plus for us being in a very hard water area is that you can install a water filter directly into the water tank, I’m hoping this will help extend the life of the machine. Therefore, we have taken measures to ensure that our support continues even after your machine's warranty has expired.

For those who would like to brew a black coffee at the touch of a button with the Gaggia Anima Prestige, I recommend going the americano route. The great thing with the Gaggia machines is that if you slide off the Panarello to reveal the metal steam pipe, this works fine as a pro steam wand, for producing great microfoam. There's a nice big dreg drawer, or grounds bin, on the Anima – this is where the used pucks of coffee go. There are only two moans on the build quality front: the steam wand both looks and feels plasticky and cheap, and the adjustable dispense head also fails to inspire confidence. The Anima features precise controls for measuring the coffee dose, a ceramic grinder, a steam arm and hot water dispensing options, coffee temperature control and LED display, as well as a 15 bar pump for delicious, crema-laden espressos. On top of that, the brew groups don’t always get along with all kinds of pre-ground coffee, and sometimes they refuse to accept finer coffee grinds altogether. GAGGIA Adapting System: The innovative technology of the GAGGIA Adapting System adjusts the grinding process, making sure the selected quantity of ground coffee is used for your espresso, whatever blend you choose, just like a professional barista! With that said, I found the integrated carafe a little hard to clean, even though I appreciated its space-saving design. This automatic coffee machine will fit right at home in your kitchen or office, is easy to use and will bring the best out of your freshly roasted whole coffee beans.

I’ve always been very impressed by the quality of the milk foam I’ve prepared using Gaggia machines, and I’m happy to report that nothing’s changed here. The same approach as the traditional barista with the stainless steel classic pannarello that delivers steam to froth milk or hot water for teas. If you just want to press a button to get a cappuccino, the One Touch Models will do the job for you. The machine alerts you when it is time to descale it and guides you step by step throughout messages on the display.

When done, purging the wand I got into the routine of pressing the aroma/strength button to turn off the steam, followed by the hot water button to purge the wand, followed by the aroma/strength button again to turn off the hot water. I just assumed that since there's no physical steam dial, it would be a case of pressing the steam button to turn on the steam, and then pressing the steam button again to turn off the steam. The Anima Prestige (on the right) is a one touch machine, which uses a milk carafe, as with some much more expensive bean to cup machines, the prestige version allows you to simply press one button, walk away, come back and pick up your milky (Cappuccino, latte).
