And, for all I know, he could be, but — per Derek’s comment above — he is doing more damage to the genre than anyone, thanks to his influence after decades as a country music celebrity.

I’m surprised you review this album without “WARNING: HEAVY LANGUAGE” or ranting and completely going off on Keith Urban. Urban , on the other hand , is a Peter Pan rock wannabe who hasn’t had an original sound or song idea in years and makes no effort whatsoever to GROW UP and BE AN ARTIST . Each of the album’s three advance singles (‘Female’, ‘Parallel Line’ and ‘Coming Home’) has so far failed to reach the top ten of the Billboard country chart; to put this into context, prior to 'Female' the last Urban single to miss out on the top ten was ‘It’s a Love Thing’, released way back in 1999. The lyric for much contemporary fare has thin to no narrative and tells us nothing about country or very much HUMAN experience beyond drinking and hooking up ( Urban , Hunt , Bryan and many others ).

We are only hoping that clear, open-minded folks understand our concerns about protecting the possible demise of a genre of music we and much of the world absolutely love . Hence why his last couple of his albums have become up straight up pop, with “Graffiti U” being the most stark example. Even his ballads, which I think he normally excels at…just aren’t sparse enough to be effective here.You’d be wise to use the term “country singer” loosely to describe Keith Urban, and even more wise to cut out the “male” part.
