About this deal

But if you like the idea of sitting at Graham's kitchen table while he makes a pot of tea and ruminates over his career whilst admiring Van Der Graaf Generator with you, it's a nice if disappointingly unchallenging read. Blur’s loud indie-rock heart, uncomfortable in the limelight, but superb in his crafting of memorable and often anthemic musical moments. In music, though, he found a tribe, and in alcohol, a balm for his deep-rooted anxiety and the “constant buzz of embarrassment”. There were also many times throughout the book where I felt he skimmed over any of his own short-comings and the impact that he may have had on situations instead I felt he chose to quietly point the finger at whoever the other person was without directly saying so.

Otherwise a fascinating insight into his own personal history outside of Blur, which I had known nothing about! Graham has covered the Blur break up in interviews in recent years and so there is no real need to provide any more detail. Jag var både oerhört inspirerad av hans spelande samt konst, och han var faktiskt en stor motivator till att jag spelade gitarr (eller iallafall fortsatte). Home to William Golding, Sylvia Plath, Kazuo Ishiguro, Sally Rooney, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Max Porter, Ingrid Persaud, Anna Burns and Rachel Cusk, among many others, Faber is proud to publish some of the greatest novelists from the early twentieth century to today.

There are occasional appearances of the very "monsters" that any self-respecting man struggles with. is an intimate, honest reflection on music, fame, addiction and art by one of Britain’s most iconic musicians. However, I’m genuinely pleased that he seems happy now and the book has connected me to some fantastic solo and collaborative music from him. Coxon på Gorillaz konsert, bakom scenen; "We arranged to meet up straight away and bonded over an Eccles cake.

Reading this book made me identify more with Graham Coxon as he discussed his anxieties and struggles with confidence / mental health. Dock skulle det vara lite bättre om han beskrev hur hans problem påverkade hans relationer/hans omgivning).

This isn't the first time such allegations have been brought up, but this time the scope has changed. Reading about his extensive therapy, I can understand his motivations for doing this but the result is a book that skips over several key instances with minimal detail. I had never realised that Graham was so prolific and so involved in the folk/fingerpicking-style scene.

He lives in a very big house in the country, for a time (mostly as a hermit, walking the bounds in his pants). Jag har inte gått in i särskilt mycket detalj här för jag orkar inte verkligen, men här var en överblick över mina åsikter om denna boken. Charting the hedonism of his Nineties heyday and the ensuing fallout, Blur’s reluctant guitar hero is finally making himself heard. Coxon comes across as a well-read, in-touch artist hoping to marry his interests together despite the weight of his doubts.

The book indicates that love in the 90s is paranoid, but friendship in the 90s was closed off from emotional expressiveness, to Coxon’s detriment. This is one of the more honest musical biographies you'll find as Coxon talks of his issues and how fame effected him as a young man who merely wanted to make music. That being said, another review I've seen as I glanced at the page here pointed out that it feels rather straightforward. Damon (Albarn) är nog den mest 'utvecklade' personen i Coxon beskrivning, troligtvis pga att de har känt varandra så pass länge.
