About this deal

This book really outlines what to expect during each phase of labor for you and your birth partner so you feel ready and knowledgeable. The author is very honest and candid in this book and helps you to see things from a more logical perspective when it comes to how your body is designed to give birth and the best way to do that. As well, good information about the many posibilities/options that a future mother has when it comes to give birth. Through her teaching she seeks to educate and empower women – and their birth partners – so that they can enjoy amazing and positive birth experiences, however they choose to bring their babies into the world. The author is the founder of The Positive Birth Company and in her book she first of all debunks common myths about hypnobirthing and the birth experience.

Really enjoyed the techniques and positivity around labor that I think will be super helpful when the time comes! But somehow, even knowing this- the book does leave you feeling somewhat positive, and there are some good ideas in there.Overall, Siobhan Miller has successfully changed my perspective on the negative narrative around birth that I've heard from other people or seen on TV. To the author; If you are writing a book about practical methods, then I would stick to that, rathering than enforcing some potentially damaging opinions. There are other chapters that I didn't elaborate on in this review that includes helpful guidelines for decision making, explanation about induction, how to practice hypnobirthing during a cesarean birth, and even a complete packing list for a birth bag—information that is good to know for when it's needed. Breaking down in tears over a book because it made me feel like I was going to have the worst labour possible when it is meant to make your "birth better", shows a real lack of consideration for all types of labour and mothers-to-be.

some of the information (at the beginning of the book) about what your body is doing in labour is useful for understanding the physical process and understanding how fear affects your level of pain. I'm all for positive birth stories, and empowering women to believe that they can have a positive birth experience. After reading this book I was actually really looking forward to giving birth and felt almost excited and not nervous at all at the prospect. Yes, it's our body/our labour etc, and the healthcare system has a duty to give you informed consent, but at the same time we have to put trust in the professionals who've spent years and years training for their job, and have years and years of experience. Giving birth—however you choose to do it—is truly the most amazing thing you will experience in your life, and meeting your precious baby for the first time is one of life's most unforgettable moments.

Whilst I understand the principals of hypnobirthing I’d definitely recommend the course more as it feels less like she is forcing her opinions on you and rather presenting the options available. Through her teaching she seeks to educate and empower women—and their birth partners—so that they can enjoy amazing and positive birth experiences, however they choose to bring their babies into the world.

The book was just a basic primer on what you need to know for birth— the stages of labor, how to pack a hospital bag, writing a birth plan. Through her teaching she seeks to educate and empower women - and their birth partners - so that they can enjoy amazing and positive birth experiences, however they choose to bring their babies into the world. Sto per diventare papà (per la prima volta) e su consiglio di mia moglie mi sono letto Hypnobirthing. It primes men to feel like useless spectators, and more importantly it primes women to fear giving birth.Expert hypnobirthing coach Siobhan Miller has made it her mission to show women everywhere that birth can be better.
