Meet the staff: ‘That’s a lovely shirt I love that shirt it goes very nicely with your trousers do you want to swap, what do you want to eat by the way do you want coffee yeah nice coffee? People will always be people, helping each other out and finding satisfaction in the small day to day routines that make sense of a life. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab . Oh and how to deal with McDonalds, when they suddenly realise they need an outlet in Uckfield after all.

Christopher Nye comes across as a nice, ordinary bloke, and he tells this cautionary tale of the perils of setting up a small food outlet in a charming and humorous way.Like many others I have very fond memories of good food and good times spent at the 'Max' - a trip to the cinema on Saturday afternoon wasn't complete without popping in for a burger or the massive Dime Sundae!

It will have you howling with laughter and well as leaving you with tips and tricks to for running your own business. If we are feeling lazy we would pop into Maxim, for an evening meal, and once again the menu and quality are excellent. A great humorous and honest read full of the (pretty much every) pit fall and mistakes its possible to make in a small catering business. It's the characters that frequent the diner that make the book, helping the author to suffer the other slings and arrows that outrageous fortune throws at him. Generous portions, the food isn't going to win any awards but was acceptable, perhaps a little expensive as some of the ingredients used are towards the lower end of the scale.

I spent the first 23 years of my life living in Uckfield and its surrounds and the Maximum Diner was the best thing that happened to the town in all the time I lived there! But for Christopher Nye it was the perfect choice: a small town, but not too small; a town with a rising, young population that was literally crying out for an American-style Diner; a town without a McDonalds. The joys of owning a restaurant, the pleasure of dealing with the public, cooking for people who don't appreciate it . We are a family friendly takeaway which specialises in a large variety of Pizza, Breakfast, delicious Charcoal Grills and Turkish cuisine, including tasty Doner and Chicken Kebab, Shish Kebabs and Kofte Kebabs, Combination Kebabs, a range of burgers, chicken nugget, Hash and Kids Meals. Oh and how to deal with McDonalds, when they suddenly realise they need an outlet in Uckfield after all. After watching far too many episodes of Diners, Drive throughs and Dives, I have always fancied having a diner. Also in our speciality Burger menu is our wonderful Big Jax, which is 2 burger, 3 onions rings, 2 hash browns, bacon and cheese, served in a toasted bun, with lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayonnaise!

Christopher Nye slips gems into every paragraph, evokes laughter and sudden chuckling, the characters are so real even the rogues are loveable. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. If I remember rightly, I think at one point he expresses an admiration for Bill Bryson - and you can feel his influence in this book. This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use. Chris Nye gets plenty of fun out of the deeply ordinary and is particularly good on the drink-fuelled undercurrent of malevolent violence which is rarely far below the surface in English country towns.

But for Christopher Nye it was the perfect choice: a small town, but not too small; a town crying out for an American-style diner; a town without a McDonald’s. This book should be required reading for any company that specializes in a food takeaway platform - it gave me a lot of empathy for the restaurant owner and everything they have to go through. But for Christopher Nye it was the perfect choice: a small town but not too small; a town crying out for American-style diner; a town without a McDonald's. Why not try our Doner Kebab, which is Cypriot style doner kebab with herbs and spices, served with daily prepared fresh salad and pitta bread, or our delicious speciality kebabs, such as Maximum Kebab or Combination of any 2 Kebabs.
