About this deal

Most importantly, it’s funny – I’m not a one for ‘misery memoirs’ – and laughter is the best medicine etc. I love coming back to Norwich each year, so I am gonna be doing my first sharing of bits of it in Stage Two if you’d like to come along and see it. Known to soap lovers for his portrayal of Dennis Savage, the 33-year-old uploaded a video on Twitter on Friday (October 1) sharing the news of his new book: 10 Things I Hate About Me. He also helped put an explanation to some of the things I was feeling I knew I was feeling that was but it helped me articulate it through his own experiences.

Perhaps a lot is wearily familiar, but he does have interesting things to say, for example about the differences between private rehab and state funded rehab (and no, not that paying gets you something better) He also does two sorts of questioning about underpinning philosophies and approaches - there's the delusional questioning (trying to wriggle out of it, you might say), and some which are worthy of serious and wider consideration.I felt such relief knowing that what I had was a thing, because my immediate thought process on it was: if it’s a thing, you can fix a thing.

Most people with BPD are undiagnosed as it takes a pretty serious crash to sit up and think: hey, something’s not quite right here. In the videos, he explains that being suicidal is a mindset, not an event – and it is a mindset he is constantly trying to understand. I wish he’d covered why BPD is now considered a pejorative term (outdated and often catch all for people who have had trauma, they often don’t get well or the help they need because they’re judged as narcissistic, unstable/unable to get better, it’s not a coincidence that most people with BPD are AFAB); I don’t love that he talks about going off all medication…meds saved my life and through most of my 30s I didn’t want to be on them…I fear his story will encourage people to do the same. Despite his poor mental health, Tracini has had a stable professional life – he has rarely been without work. When he started posting his videos, thousands of people wrote to him, checking how he was and telling him he had made a difference to their lives. As a person with mental illness, (depression), I really felt what he went through and on Twitter I cheered him on and expressed compassion. Final note to say is to say that the comedy in this book will have you laughing at things you thought were morally wrong to laugh at, but here you are belly laughing at suicidal jokes. That being said, I can honestly say, that this is one of the most raw and honest books I have ever read. Then I discovered, along with so many others, that Joe has struggled with BPD and that lead to struggles with substance abuse and suicidal thoughts.

Well, we talked about getting a rabbit and that’s quite long term, because we haven’t got a garden yet! He is supremely polite, slightly geeky and wears T-shirts that show off his elaborately tattooed arms (and disguise his self-harm scars). In this book I want to try and explain what life is like when you have a brain that is essentially trying to murder you every day. In 2003, he was the British junior magical champion and was named the most promising comedy act by Ken Dodd. Beginning his writing career in 2014, Dan's work first graced the pages of cult publications Starburst magazine and Little White Lies before moving onto Total Film, Digital Spy , NME and Yahoo Entertainment. He knows that nobody will turn up to see him; they will be there for Mick, the abusive loudmouth in the BPD T-shirt. The only reason that I’m able to be so honest is because I’m doing it to the back of an iPhone,” he says.
