About this deal

Price for same SOC and tech SHOULD be lower but it’s on sale for same price as RT-AX6000 which makes it an extremely poor buy. Reply Fixed null pointer dereference vulnerabilities. Thanks to Chengfeng Ye, Prism Research Group - cse hkust contribution. It shares all common features and settings collectively available in Asus Wi-Fi routers, as I detailed in this primer post. It's similar to any Dual-band Asus Wi-Fi 6 router, including the non-Pro version or the GT-AX6000. The more features you use, the more recourses are needed generally, James. So yes, NAS, QoS, Protection, etc., will benefit from high processing power. VPN by itself doesn’t require much, but more power doesn’t hurt. Reply

ASUS AiMesh support – Create a flexible, seamless whole-home mesh network with AiMesh-compatible routers In mid-August 2020, I published an in-depth review of the RT-AX86U and called it “arguably the best Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router” for a good reason — the router has been one of the best. The new Pro router on the inside reminds me of the similarly-specced GT-AX6000, part of Asus's ROG Rapture gaming hardware. The devices indicated by you are connected to two completely different routers. In addition to the external appearance, they also differ in the segment and the functionalities themselves.

MSRP hasn't been any type of indicator for a very long time now. When on sale, it is at, or below, the RT-AX86U (and during COVID-19, that model was rarely on sale). Ta strona jest chroniona przez reCAPTCHA i obowiązują ją Warunki korzystania z usługi oraz Polityka prywatności Google. I can’t say about the RT-AX88U Pro since it’s not available yet (and I don’t know when), but the RT-AX86U is excellent. Go for it! Chances are the RT-AX88U Pro won’t make much of a difference. Or you can go for the GT-AX6000, which is the same in terms of hardware specs but better in features. There’s so such thing as “future proofing”— get what works for your needs today — and, as I mentioned, it’s easy to add the 6GHz band to your network. VLAN, short for virtual local area network, is a business feature that allows users to create a logical network on an existing physical network. It's similar to building a mini mother-in-law guest house within your property.Customized Network: An extra customizable SSID for additional network segmenting or isolation purposes. Multi-Gig: Ability to aggregate two Gigabit LAN ports and two Gigabit WAN ports (configurable) concurrently. I knew I’d never, ever see that couple-hundred Mbps the RT-AX88U Pro supposedly offers over the RT-AX86U Pro for 802.11ax, and I really only use 2.4 GHz for low-bandwidth IoT devices that don’t support 5 GHz anyway. This review and the other linked posts are my takes on them, Drew. You have to make the decision yourself. More here— make sure you read it! Reply How to read an Asus router's firmware: As shown in the screenshot below, in a particular official firmware version, such as 3.0.0.4. 386_47629, the 3xx number in the middle denotes Asus's home-grown major release. The following number -- often includes five digits, such as 47629 in the screenshot -- indicates a minor update.

RT-AX86U Pro - AX5700 Dual Band WiFi 6 Gaming Router - ASUS

When connected to my GT-AX6000 something is not allowing certain apps or functions to work on our phones and I need help how to troubleshoot The faster CPU doesn’t hurt, but it won’t help much, considering the small increment. And the second slower USB port cancels out whatever little extra that CPU offers. I used a WD My Passport for the NAS test, and the RT-AX88U Pro did very well for its specs. It wasn't the fastest, but definitely above average compared to other Multi-Gig routers, as shown on the charts. Years ago, I reviewed the RT-AC88U and thought it was the coolest thing ever, primarily because of its 8 Gigabit LAN ports. GT-AX11000 Pro, GT-AX6000, ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000, RT-AX86U Pro, RT-AX88U Pro, ZenWiFi Pro ET12, ZenWIFI Pro XT12I didn’t start testing power consumption until earlier this year, Cary. Thanks for the input, though. Reply Yes, I would. It’s a great router. But it’s your call. It’s a pure Wi-Fi 6 router. I’d just go with it and move to Wi-Fi 7 in a few years. without anti-virus capabilities such as IoT devices. RT-AX86 Series includes lifetime free AiProtection It would only be fitting if the Asus RT-AX88U Pro ended up my last Wi-Fi 6 router review, which it might be. In early January 2019, its variant, the original RT-AX88U, was my first. Thanks for confirming, Don. The non-pro version’s 2nd USB port is hidden on the front. I guess Asus does a way with it. Reply

This post will help with those questions. The gist is if pricing is the same, then there’s no reason not to get the Pro version. And The RT-AX86S can be a good choice for a non-demanding home. Synchronize Guest network pro (SDN) with VLAN, create/delete new VLAN-only-network will create/delete a new profile in Guest network as well.No offense taken. I just wanted to note that I had already mentioned in the post most of what you said, which was a little harsh, though not without merit.
