About this deal

Unlike the UniFi gateway line which includes only 3 models, there are several models in the EdgeRouter product series. Some of these models (at the time of this writing) are: You have an already functional Ubiquiti EdgeRouter running EdgeOS (also known as "EdgeMax Software") v1.9 or later. However, the Web GUI of EdgeRouter is capable to configure almost ALL settings and features of ER, even the advanced settings (unlike the Unifi controller which supports configuration of mostly the basic features of USG but not all advanced settings). Software Just setup a USG, with a US-8-60W switch, and a UAP-AC-Pro wireless access point yesterday. I’m replacing an Edgerouter PoE-5, which I was previously using with the UAP-AC-Pro. I have the Unifi Controller setup on an RPi3.

All EdgeRouter devices are mainly managed by individually connecting to them via a Web GUI interface. However, there are other options as well as shown below:

And well it looks like there is potentially not even support for the cores, networking is not supported for sure etc. If you are replacing a consumer router in your home network or small office, generally I would say the USG model is a better replacement compared to an EdgeRouter. It’s easier to manage and configure and provides much more speed and throughput compared to regular consumer routers. I just brought up a CN7020 Octeon3 Device. This would give me a reason to create an Octeon3 target rather than OcteonPlus. I’ve asked KPN to set me up with an 1 Gbps connection so I can see whether all settings internally are setup to profit maximum from the available bandwith. The tables below summarizes the features that can be offloaded on each platform. MediaTek-Based Devices

All EdgeRouter model use the same operating system (EdgeOS), but differ in the available hardware feature-set. Some of the differences are the built-in Switch-Chip and the ability to power other devices using Power over Ethernet (PoE). See the section below for more information. EDAC DEVICE1: Giving out device to module octeon-l2c controller octeon_l2c_err: DEV octeon_l2c_edac (POLLED) interrupt boot by pressing button(s) on your keyboard to log in to the uboot (this instruction line is way better when looking at the Er-8 official install instructions!) It does not integrate with UniFi Controller for management but it offers its own Web GUI for management which is more powerful and full-fledged compared to Unifi controller. I’ve also noticed that my streaming is much improved since switching to the USG. I’d get some lag while live streaming content using IPTV services before, but not anymore. I also stream to devices over wifi and ethernet. Some processes currently cannot take advantage of hardware offloading. This can lead to confusion where it is assumed that offloading is disabled. A more accurate statement is that some features are not eligible to be offloaded and will alwaysdepend on the CPU. The SPF comes with PoE ports, allowing you to connect Unifi Access Points to it without the need of additional power adapters. The ER-4 can be managed remotely using Ubiquiti's Network Management System (UNMS) via a PC or tablet, or by the UMobile App on an iOS or Android phone. Also, because of limited RAM on the USG, only a limited selection of IDS/IPS categories can be enabled (11 out of 41).
