About this deal

Oh, and I must say that I'm very surprised that the nose behind First is Jean-Claude Ellena. It seems that he's been in the world of minimalism for such a long time, .....well, people change when time goes by, I guess. This is a gorgeous perfume - and has a unique, one of a kind quality about it. I love the dry down after the first 45 minutes.

But requires more substance - it has a depth that can make it seem as if you are attempting to wear your mother's or grandmother's fragrance - unless you can step into the initial power of this one. You may have had to survive the 1980's - or have a depth as if you did -- to truly appreciate this particular perfume. The first time I ever encountered First was on my first trip to Paris From NYC in the 1980s. I was nervous for several reasons. A beautiful blond flight attendant in her 40s helped calm me down. She was very fashionable even in her uniform. I noticed her perfume most. When we landed in France I finally asked her what it was. Her response was First. I never encountered it again. The reason I remember this so well is, that when I went to visit my grandparents for the holidays I was usually dropped off at my granny's workplace, a bank. Oftentimes this was about one hour before she had finished work and so I sat beside her and played some games. its taken me so long to be able to translate what people are meaning when they review these scents -- i suppose one must think of First, chanel number 5, ... others in that category as layered with dry talc citrus.

Lets face it, VCA First was a bit retro in 1976. This kind of luxury had been seen before in every decade of the 20th century starting with Chanel no 5, Arpege, Joy, Madame Rochas, Caleche and Chamade. The torch was passed to First who brought it to glorious heights. Nothing has came close to this opulence, other than Boucheron a decade later. Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number). The most dominant notes to my nose include freesia, vanilla, frangipani and jasmine. A creamy note of sandalwood blends with the sweet vanilla to create a smooth and delicate drydown to finish.

This starts with a rather bold scent that is definitely a bit off putting. I rarely like to use this term, but it has that quality of being "old lady-ish". About 45 minutes to an hour into this, this calms into a gorgeous scent that blends and melds with my chemistry. This is alluring, it really draws me in at this point. The initial blast of this spray is so intense that it makes this dry down, the pay off for enduring the first strength of this. I also put Rare Gold by Avon into this similar genre, because they both do fabulous things on the skin - the longer they wear.

Now, her fragrance ALWAYS was the strongest, most distinctive scent I could detect in that entire office. It was warm, loving, welcoming and soft and very, VERY unique.

The Dutch diamond-cutter Alfred Van Cleef and his father-in-law, Salomon Arpels, founded the company in 1896. In 1906, following Arpels’s death, Alfred and two of his brothers-in-law, Charles and Julien, acquired space for Van Cleef & Arpels at 22 Place Vendôme, across from the Hôtel Ritz, where Van Cleef & Arpels opened its first boutique shop. [6] The third Arpels brother, Louis Arpels, joined the company in 1913. [7] This is a fragrance that requires more panache' to carry off. If you are drawn to the naive, girly, sugary sweet fragrances that line the walls of the Body Shop and Victoria's Secret-- you may find that this is NOT your thing. This really has to work well with your chemistry because there are so many ingredients in this that it could feel overwhelming if you are not chemically suited to wear this one. The fragrance draws you in with aldehydes, and to quote my 2nd husband when I used to wear this and when he was alive, "smells like a beautiful woman out of the shower". The aldehydes have an incandescent brilliance, not like glittery cheap sequins, but the natural light emitting from diamond jewelry or precious jewels.I love a great many vintage formulas that have civet but I always imagined it to be something best represented in skanky thoroughly animalic scents.
