In terms of flavour, the white chocolate is more of a hint, but this is strawberry ice cream, so what did we expect? Now, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I certainly used to rely on ‘Carb Killas’ (as the name suggests) to be a go-to, lower carb bar, so the higher carb count is something to watch.

Overall this wouldn’t be my go-to flavour – the banana flavour is just too artificial. It gets a 5/10 primarily because of the great texture and macros we’ve come to expect from the Carb Killa range. The best protein bars offer a convenient way to top up essential nutrients when on the move – but from the multitude of brands and flavours out there, how can you tell which taste great, are healthy enough to eat regularly and deliver the protein punch you need? Tastewise, they’ve got it bang on. I tried the Chocolate Brownie Crunch flavour and I’m pleased to report there’s no bitter protein aftertaste lingering in your mouth and it actually resembles a regular chocolate bar. The inside is gooey, almost like cookie dough and the outer is topped in coated cereal.Grenade have definitely switched something up with their more recent flavours – the overall texture is softer and they’ve outgrown the crispies. This bar continues the theme and, in fact, might actually be the fudgiest bar yet. It’s actually squidgy! Clifford recommends 0.7g of protein per kg of body weight for the average adult, in line with guidance from the British Nutrition Foundation. While you should be aiming to get enough protein from whole food sources in your diet, protein supplements can help boost your intake if you’re working towards specific fitness goals. Like the White Chocolate Salted Peanut, this flavour contains slightly more calories than the earlier bars – 233 calories in this one – and they also contain slightly less protein – 20g compared to 22g in some of the others. Whereas the ‘older’ bars all seem to hover around 15-16g, the newer flavours have been consistently up at 18-20g, almost matching the 20-22g protein in each bar. Even so, this is a great addition to the line and I still really enjoyed it. You could say it would have been improved by substituting the caramel layer for peanut butter, but what isn’t improved by adding a bit of peanut butter… Jaffa Quake 8/10

Inside, it’s the same classic triple-layer bar we’ve come to know and love from Grenade. The base is soft and slightly chewy – a nice chocolate flavour with a hint of mint. We are going to give you our honest opinion on what we think of them! The review team included a 4-year-old who has discerning tastes and is not normally a fan of no sugar anything. Tough crowd. The Armoury - Grenade Bar Flavours The Oreo protein bars have a chocolatey nougat centre that’s loaded with genuine Oreo cocoa and a creme layer that’s flavoured with authentic Oreo vanilla for that classic Oreo cookie taste that both dabblers and die-hard fans will love.I will definitely be eating this on the regular, but it gets an 8.5 because in the end, it is just a chocolate crunch with orange flavouring… Birthday Cake 5/10 This bar features a peanut butter flavoured base topped with a gooey strawberry layer and spindled with peanut pieces, then coated in milk chocolate. With the Carb Killas, Grenade have managed to produce a bar which genuinely tastes like a chocolate bar. I’m not even lying, it’s amazing.

As usual, I have nothing bad to say about Grenade’s chocolate. It’s high quality, melts instantly and adds a delightful creaminess. As usual, the chocolate is good quality and melts as soon as you take a bite. Plus the chocolate chips are a nice addition, making for a more interesting texture and intensifying the creamy cocoa flavour. In this post I will review all the flavours I’ve tried so far, and I’ll update it as and when I try the new additions!
