Feeling intrigued about where John Puller's case was taking them, she decides to stay and help with the investigation, hoping to find more clues about Mercy in the process.In this latest novel Atlee shows that she is not immune to bad decisions as I found she made plenty during this investigation and I found myself shaking my head over some of the situations she found herself in.

With leads as hot as they come, Puller has little time to rest on his laurels, but does suppose that he and Pine might be able to work together, killing two birds with a single stone. I received an arc of this thriller from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The main characters are very well written and Pine is a great central character to tie the whole thing together.

In total, David has published 48 novels for adults; all have been national and international bestsellers and several have been adapted for film and television. Murder and political corruption are at the center of this mystery, and this time in addition to her intrepid FBI assistant Carol Blum she has John Puller as a partner in tracking down these evil people. Baldacci does an excellent job in getting Puller and Pine together in this story, both because they’re well-matched characters, and also because of the ensuing action. Highly recommended for fans of suspenseful mysteries – a superb continuation of an already outstanding series.

They discover that this is corruption of the very highest level, with global ramifications if it is not stopped. That story ended with her learning the identity of the man who broke into their home and abducted Mercy.
