About this deal

You can do as many rounds as time allows. If you have a small group, you can make sure everyone in the room gets at least one turn with each other. Icebreaker #30: Pictionary Smart people want to make a great impression at work. But they might be doing it all wrong. Here’s… Everyone has an interesting photo on their phone, so this is a great activity for everyone! Here’s mine… Icebreaker #10: Partner Lunch I did feel that it was a bit odd that only Lucy and her friend Norman seemed to be responsible kids. I'm quite sure there would be others as well - and it would have been interesting to see their take on how to solve the problem. I also would have liked a bit more mystery regarding Lucy's father. I felt like I solved that way too soon - but that might be because I'm an adult and, well, this is a children's story. Ella? I just disliked her. I wouldn't have minded if she had been taken by the monsters and never was returned. Bleh.

Lucy becomes the leader and tries to discover why the parents left while helping all the children. Enter The Creakers..... Norman Quirk collected achievement badges on his Scout uniform. Could you design some new badges for him? Celebrate the winner and offer them a chance to lead off the next meeting or decide the theme for the forthcoming contest. It says a unit of work which I thought would include full day-to-day planning including starter, main tasks and plenaries. Instead it is literally just an idea per paragraph with free resources on Puffin/The Literacy Shed.

What else can I use to support reading ‘The Creakers’?

If you could learn about any new topic or skill, without any constraints of time or money, what would it be? News flash from The North Pole, you’re about to read an exclusive extract from The Christmasaurus, the bestselling festive story from author Tom Fletcher. The children tried to watch the news on ‘the day it all began’, but the news presenter was missing. Imagine they decided to create the report themselves. Could you write their script? Could you record the report? Someone once said that relationships are like a walk in the park. Jurassic Park, that is. Most of us… Sure, you can think about how to solve a problem. But what about “knowing” how to? Your intuition is…

Flexing your rapid-fire brainstorming muscle becomes a thrilling challenge in Scattergories. The person steering the game can select categories as general as fashion and wildlife or as quirky as “famous comic book catchphrases.” Charismatic leaders impact the world in powerful ways. Learn about the 6 different charismatic leaders and how they do… Set a timer for two minutes. During this time, the rest of the team attempts to sway the opinion-holder’s view. The Christmasaurus will always have my heart, but The Creakers is a strong follow-up novel with an incredible heroine falling into and a scary, fun and heartwarming adventure, guaranteed to make kids look forward to bedtime.Sure, I wasn't happy with the mom. Really, you believe your hubby would just get up and leave? Without taking anything with him? Leaving his food/drink on the table? I would definitely have a bit more trust in my hubby if he would suddenly disappear without a hint. If you ever doubted that dinosaurs and Christmas would work well together, read this book. It is bursting with loveable characters, fast-paced adventure and, of course, Christmas spirit.

This is fun at first, but when children are free to run wild someone needs to step up, an unlikely hero and thats when Lucy discovers the Creakers under her bed. Decide the Winner: The picture that is deemed the most creative (based on your established criteria) wins. Are you ready to reach your potential, conquer your goals, and face challenges? Explore how to boost your confidence…Can you proofread the Creaker’s letter to the children? What mistakes did they make? Could you write a new letter from the Creakers?

Could you record a trailer for this book? Here are some examples that you could use for inspiration: Lucy is responsible and all of the children look to her for support when the grown-ups disappear. What does it mean to be responsible? What are you responsible for? How do our responsibilities change as we get older? I love the game “Two Truths and One Lie,” because it allows you to get a little more creative with your teams and to have some fun. However the compelling fitness of theme and event and the apt but unexpected imagery (the opening sentences compare the first week in August when this takes place to "the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning") help to justify the extravagant early assertion that had the secret about to be revealed been known at the time of the action, the very earth "would have trembled on its axis like a beetle on a pin." After both people have answered and the two-minute timer is up, have them find a new partner and assign them a new conversation starter. In every round, the game highlights a random letter from the alphabet, asking players to think on their feet and come up with any word or phrase from the chosen category starting with that letter. This game serves as a fantastic icebreaker, especially for those in your crew who can’t resist a competitive streak.
