About this deal

Awhile ago, I came across a list of Gaiman's favorite books and this was on it. What the hey, I said. I'll take a stab at that! Well, stab taken, and it's a good thing that I wasn't planing on sleeping any time soon. Wow, wow, wow - it's been awhile since a book creeped me out this badly! If I were to answer this question with a simple yes or no, I would say no. BUT, from the dialogue and the drizzle of spice (at least in one scene) I have a hunch that the books will get more spicy as things progress. And i am suddenly so bored of this book and review and im done with it. Thank you for reading if everyone ever reads this chaotic “review” of mine. Sorin is so far my favourite character. He's everything I love in a love interest, and I can't wait to read more about him.

Our Lady of Darkness was originally serialised, in shorter form, and with the title The Pale Brown Thing, over two issues of the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction (January/February 1977). The story was featured on the cover of the January issue with a painting by Ron Walotsky. [1] I personally love a bit of feminine rage & it being a completed 5 book romantic fantasy series… I was excited 🙌🏽 Adding to the metafiction elements of the story are Leiber's frequent references to Jung's descriptions of the Anima (female self) and Shadow (hidden self). These are elements that existed in Leiber's work nearly since the start of his career in the late 1930s, according to Bruce Byfield's Witches of the Mind: A Critical Study of Fritz Leiber. The main difference in Our Lady of Darkness is that, unlike much of his earlier works, the references to these figures are explicit, rather than implied, and at times supported by direct quotes. From there, we see the evolution of Harlow’s relationship with Alaric, Gideon, Sterling, and Theo and their connection with one another, as well as her role within the Lords, and the organization itself. A chosen that was never meant to be. Tessalyn Asura was just as forgotten as the realm. However when she finds herself being the personal Source to the Heir of the Endings, she ends up serving in the darkest Kingdom there is. The secrets inside of the Arius Kingdom are meant to be kept and learned, however this was never the life that she wanted. Fighting not just the fate that was thrust upon her, but also the temptation to lose herself to desire, Tessa is going to do anything to escape this new destiny. Until she begins realizing that their world was not nearly as forgotten as she believed, and she might be the reason why.

Some parts of the book and some dialogue sequences are extremely cheesy and wholesome, which really annoys me in supposed dark novels. Criminals and serial killers are not affectionate lovers and partners. It's as simple as that. FFS, how hard of a concept is it? Here we have a daughter of some dark lord (she doesnt know that yet), who comes to england for her fathers funeral and gets jumped in her room by 4 handsome, crazy attactive men (who are in their 30s and she is fresh out of high school ,18, not that im bothered but kinda kills the vibe for me cuz i wanted mature characters) who are lords of darkness and are ruling the world from underground practically (drugs, arms dealing, assasinations whatever you can imagine honestly idk) and now she has to fill her fathers place. And there is no arguing about it. PDF / EPUB File Name: Lady_of_Darkness_-_melissa_roehrich.pdf, Lady_of_Darkness_-_melissa_roehrich.epub

In the first book, the female MC bakes arsenic brownies to kill the Lords of Darkness and literally as she serves the brownies and they eat them, she changes her mind because she loves them? Like, what the he11? And for someone that claims to love her sisters and want to keep them safe, she sure does try to kill Nuri a lot. This book was amazing! Our heroine is one vicious criminal who is trying to find who killed her mother. Unfortunately, in the process of doing so, she loses someone really important to her which makes her retreat into herself. Then a new lead appears and she decides to be done with it once and for all but all is not as it should be. A mystery. However once the kids start vanishing from her home, all of her plans are put on hold while she races to save the most innocent. With the help of a jilted lover, her old friends, and one mysterious newcomer that claims the magic of the Fae is possible in the mortal lands, Scarlett delves deeper into the darkest corners of the world. Some forgotten secrets are also going to come to light, and she’ll discover the darkness extends well beyond her own kingdom. As much as I enjoyed the city-as-a-puzzle aspect, I came to realize I'm simply not the biggest fan of stories on occult — and Our Lady of Darkness is all about that. In addition, the storytelling style is consistently passive, involving long segments of characters exchanging knowledge and finding. For readers interested in the subject matter, I could see this thorough lore/world-building being immensely immersive, but I was ready for some action to happen. Overall, the stake simply didn't feel high enough, the story concluded just when something remotely fantastical finally materialized. Lady of Darkness has a very high smut-to-plot ratio, with explosive group scenes that include explicit MM.

I wish someone told the author that the best place for fanfiction is AO3, not a publishing house. I know that certain tropes and elements will be used repeatedly by hundreds of authors, especially in fantasy, but when you use exactly the same ones as one particular author (maybe two), it becomes a problem. Examples below: this book was okay. the smut was my favorite part of it. it’s sad that not many authors include mm relationships into rh books. what i didn’t like - in both of their “missions” fmc was made into a helpless princess in distress waiting for guys to help her. at the end of the book it said that she became this badass lady who terrified everyone but we didn’t see it in the book.Six epilogues? Yes pleaseeee. I’m a whore for epilogues and these were perfect. My only greedy complaint is I wanted more moments with the children they’d be having! Other than that, everything was literal perfection. This duet will definitely be hitting my bookshelves. There’s a reason every single crime syndicate out there fears the Lady. She’s ruthless, and she’s carved herself quite the reputation in our world.
