About this deal

This blog is about how I feed my family whilst busy juggling life. I originally named it as I thought I’d write about parenting, but predictably it ended up being all about food because: I had learned to leverage social media as the ultimate shop window to your product and that was incredibly insightful in growing my blog following. I also learned the value to be found from listening to your audience and being as supremely helpful and informative as possible.

Mix the slow cook ingredients (apart from the garlic bulb) together in a bowl with clean hands. You need to knead it with your hands until everything is fully combined and the meat is smooth. Gnocchi is something a little different than normal pasta and works really well with plenty of sauce. This is my simple, homemade version with inspiration taken from the one we know and hold dear. I’ve kept it as family friendly as possible with budget, nutrition and convenience in mind. This is the kind of dish that we all loved as children but the pressure to come up with a perfect Yorkshire Pudding recipe can make it feel a bit daunting to attempt as adults.

Brown your beef and bacon, followed by vegetables (as detailed in the recipe below). Add in your liquid and pop on the lid of the slow cooker and cook on low for about 6 – 8 hours or high for 3 – 4 hours. Make the garlic sauce by squeeze the cooked, very soft garlic from it's skin. Just hold the bulb and squeeze from the bottom and it will squish straight out. Add the mayo, yoghurt and mint sauce, mix well. Add a splash of water if you'd like it to be more runny. Whereas a casserole (in the UK at least) tends to be a similar dish, but cooked in the oven in a lidded saucepan. Timings will vary depending on your slow cooker, I always go on the side of caution and allow more time, so that the meat is meltingly soft.) I have used a few of the slow cooker doner recipes some of which have been inedible…this however is amazing! I have made it with lamb and have made it with beef. I prefer lamb, but is great either way. Garlic sauce is amazing too! We had it with homemade coleslaw as well. This all-in-one pasta dish is cooked in a single pan, making cleaning up after a family meal easy-peasy!I ran a small cookery school teaching cake decorating. I loved the customers and it gave me a brilliant grounding in the early years of social media. I sold the business when I first had my children.

Welcome! - Taming Twins

If you want to get scientific, the reason we brown meat before slow cooking is because it causes a Maillard reaction. The process of frying, heating it to a hot temperature until it browns, changes the flavour compounds in the meat, basically adding a depth of flavour.Heated the leftovers up with some veg and a spoon full of crunchy peanut butter and some rice noodles. YUM! Massive congratulations – your first book, What’s For Dinner, hit the shelves yesterday. Can you tell us a bit about it? It took some getting my head around, and then I realised it made sense… no hot and sweaty cooking over a hot stove – perfect! And no cooking later in the day when we’ve had our fill of a hot day.
