About this deal

Lawn Care Our lawn care range is designed to make Lawn UK a one stop shop for all your lawn care needs. We’ll be expanding our lawncare range over time, with new products constantly being added to our range.’ Mycorrhizal fungi can be added to the roots of almost all plants when dug into the garden or containers. This fungus extends the root system both deeper and broader. We certainly don’t expect anyone to go rip up their existing lawn so it can be replaced with some other type of grass, but if you are currently making significant landscaping changes, you may want to think about the type of seed or sod you put down. It’s extremely powerful so be sure to use it with caution and experiment with the lowest measurement first: use 1 to 2 grams per litre of water per square metre of lawn and apply with a sprayer for better coverage. If an ornamental seed mix claims to contain 50% Browntop Bent (Common Bent) and 50% Chewings Fescue, then it really should only contain those grass species.

It should be noted that we’re not talking about a cheap product here either, with this 1 kg bag costing around 1/3 of some 10 kg bags, but it’s still worth considering if you have the available budget simply due to the finish that can be achieved. Lawn feed isn’t exactly food; it’s more a combination of mineral nutrients that help your grass to grow. Just like other plants, grass needs a regular supply of nutrients to keep it growing healthily. The main nutrients needed are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), each of which provide your lawn with different benefits. Urea contains a ton of nitrogen. Nitrogen is an important resource for grass and other plants, as it helps them produce new tissues and grow (nitrogen is the primary component of most fertilizers). The best grass seed will also withstand local weather conditions. Ryegrass and Fescue grasses are the prime choice for shady gardens, whilst Tall Fescue can handle the UK’s wet weather. Meadowgrass or Fescue grasses are great for gardens with dry or sandy soil. If you don’t have the greenest thumbs, a hardy grass seed like RUNADI’s Speedy Grass Lawn Seed is a good option for those who are newer to the world of gardening. It doesn’t require quite as much preparation or maintenance as some of the other seed mixes featured here, and it produces results that are long lasting and easy to maintain.Lawn Fertilisers Lawn UK supply a rang There are numerous grass seed varieties available in the UK market. Our most popular mix is Sprogs & Dogs. This very hardwearing mixture is suitable for very high traffic and stands up well to the largest dogs. If you’re after something finer, try a mix like Easy Green. This mix will be suitable for smaller breeds of dog, and other small and less energetic animals like cats and rabbits. What about grazing? The perennial ryegrass in this mix is fast to grow and establish, producing a strong and durable sward that will put up with just as much as a football pitch! The finer-leafed strong creeping red fescue blends seamlessly with the ryegrass to create a lawn that is as green and lush as it is wear-and-tear tolerant.

Intended use: Some grasses are more wear-resistant, while others offer a softer, more delicate texture. Think about how you’ll use your lawn and select a grass seed mix accordingly. Made up of a combination of Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass and finer Fescue grasses, this seed germinates faster than most but still remains hardwearing thanks to its ryegrass content. This type of grass is typically used for a bowling green, football pitch and other more sensitive lawns. A small percentage of Browntop Bent, such as the 5% found in the GBW 1 kg Grass Seed, will add some finer, short grass to your lawn. As we all know, the UK climate can be unpredictable at best and atrocious at worst. Certainly, it’s not always an easy environment for us gardeners to work in! It’s also not the best climate for all types of grass either, which is why seed mixes like GBW’s 1 kg Grass Seed use selected grass species tailored to thrive in the UK weather. Choose a good quality lawn feed, like our Vivid Green’s spring/summer lawn feed, and apply every 6-8 weeks. The only difficult thing about feeding your lawn is remembering to do it, so mark the dates on the calendar or put a reminder on your smartphone so you don’t forget next time. Regular walkies Grass seeds are nature’s tiny powerhouses, each containing the genetic blueprint for a new generation of grass plants. They consist of a seed coat, an embryonic grass plant, and stored nutrients that fuel initial growth.
