About this deal

Mars’ polar caps and a dark mark or two will be visible, as will be any dust storms that occur on the planet. Manually locating and then fixing on to much dimmer, harder to find objects is a challenge when using the Celestron Inspire 100AZ. The Celestron Inspire 100AZ telescope it's an entirely manual telescope that you have to move yourself.

Keep in mind that we’re not asking for perfection-what we’re talking about is being able to at least somewhat make out the Milky Way. The Meade Polaris 114mm Reflector Telescope has the advantage of its German equatorial mount working in line with the earth's natural rotation and slow motion control that lets users gently and accurately track objects as they move across the night sky. A used Inspire 100AZ is a nice scope, though if poorly maintained, it’s very possible the scope could have irreparable damage thanks to its multitude of plastic components. The trick is to get the Inspire 100AZ roughly underneath or above your target using the pan axis and then tweak the tilt axis to get it into the field of view.So if you’re considering one of the other Inspire refractors, our comments in this review about everything the Inspire telescopes offer except the optics (and lesser aperture of course) apply to the smaller models as well. It's a very basic accessory tray, without much room to put anything at all, though it does have custom spaces to put eyepieces. The Orion SkyQuest XT6 has a 2” single-speed Crayford focuser, double the light gathering power, and 50% more resolving power than the Inspire 100AZ, mounted atop a full-sized and sturdy Dobsonian mount which requires neither a table nor tripod to be used.

The ease with which it can be set up is a real bonus for allowing beginners to get on with observing as quickly as possible. Mars’ polar caps and a dark marking or two will be visible, as will be any dust storms that occur on the planet. We’d also recommend getting a different eyepiece than the 20mm Kellner that comes with the Inspire 100AZ. However, the “micrometre” is tiny, positioned on the side of the telescope, and not illuminated in any way, so it is a functionally useless decoration. The mount is a free form altazimuth mount that moves very smoothly and has functional settings that allow for you to cruise around the night sky with fluid ease or hone in a specific spot with the same amount of precision. Following the theme of this telescope, the Celestron Inspire 100AZ Refractor can see a little bit of everything. I've not downloaded Stellarium but I think it's next on the agenda if it will help the little fella out.

Due to the way it works, any Amici erecting prism produces annoying bright spikes, glare, and additional chromatic aberration on bright targets – which doesn’t help when there are already glare issues with the dew shield and chromatic aberration from the objective lens itself to begin with. Consequently, trying to get it all done before the object drifts out of the field of view can be tricky.I have the 10mm and for planets it is absolutely fantastic if you don't mind the tight eye relief and small field of view. He also brings a great deal of knowledge on action cameras, 360 cameras, AI cameras, camera backpacks, telescopes, gimbals, tripods and all manner of photography equipment. Made with several plastic parts that made it floppy when racking in and out it doesn’t inspire confidence in the product, although this is a minor niggle.

You have two possibilities, get an additional eyepiece - perhaps 5mm or 6mm which would give x132 and x110 respectively. The alternative in the Meade Polaris 114mm Reflector Telescope likewise features an accessory tray and a stainless steel tripod. Second, it covers part of your phone’s screen, which can make it hard to set the focus and other features of your phone camera. For now though, know that key specification for the Meade device you need to be focusing on includes its 114mm objective lens with f/8.
