About this deal

This is the theory behind the use of Nitrous Oxide(NOS) canisters in car engines – note that these are mixed with toxic chemicals so don’t try whipping any cream with an automotive NOS kit! – but the beauty of thecanisters is their size. They are tiny and light but contain quite a lot of Nitrous Oxide gas. So, weighing my bottle, i can now say that the full weight of the bottle was 8lbs exactly and using the empty figure above of 6.09lbs then according to my calculations I have 1.91lbs of liquid in the bottle!! so the 5lb bottle holds 4.5lbs of liquid so that must mean that the bottle is missing approximately 2.59lbs!! So its approx half full!! If your bottle has anything other dash 4, M8 or M10 please let us know or bring with you a method of adapting your bottle outlet to dash 4 male otherwise we will be unable to fill your bottle for you. With all the above in mind, it is obviously essential to supply the engine with precise amounts of additional fuel to match the amount of nitrous oxide being added (to ensure the engine doesn’t run lean) and to retard the timing to an optimum setting, to achieve successful and reliable results. When all three (fuel, nitrous and timing) are controlled accurately, your engine can safely and reliably generate exceptional power increases without causing damage due to detonation. Up to a point, adding nitrous oxide to an engine will reduce the risk of detonation (especially on forced induction engines) but after that point when larger power increases are required it will increase the risk. One of the reasons for this is the extra heat generated and the easiest way to overcome this being a problem, is to add excess fuel which will act as a coolant. Wizards of NOS nitrous systems are supplied with rich jetting to give you a safe starting point, which means this issue is already dealt with to some extent and as long as an engine is not pushed to the extreme, running slightly richer should be all you'll need to control detonation. Whilst running richer than optimum will reduce the power output slightly, the advantage of raising the detonation limit will allow more nitrous to be used to get more power more safely.

If you'd like a copy of that and one of the 5th Gear piece we did, we're giving away a free CD with each copy of my book. Nitrous works in more than one way, but primarily it all adds to the same effect. It gives your engine more oxygen to burn, which in turn allows more fuel to burn creating more power. To gain a better understanding of how nitrous works you need to know two things. In 2015, the then chair of the ACMD, Prof Leslie Iversen, told the home secretary at the time, Theresa May, that possession of laughing gas should remain legal.

Nitrous Controllers

Nitrous oxide has been around longer than you might at first think. It was first discovered in the 19th Century, but its potential properties were not recognized until much later when it was introduced as an anesthetic — for which it’s still used today. It was only during the Second World War that its massive performance-enhancing abilities were recognized. As a result, it was utilized in certain types of planes to make them fly faster and work in high altitudes where air content is thinner. To achieve such a good cooliing effect the nitrous must be injected as a liquid. Only The Wizards of NOS ' Street Blaster' nitrous systems are capable of injecting such dense liquid as to take maximum advantage of this effect. The Affect Of Adding Nitrous Oxide To An Engine Combustion The blue 10-pound bottle sells thousands of units a year by itself. The blue bottle is an iconic part of nitrous,” says Wagner.

Contrary to what you've been told the Jag did NOT suffer any engine problems from using the nitrous. The engine itself could have handle at least double that amount but the ignition and gearbox couldn't, as they both started to fail when we tried 250 hp. The Dutch government is to introduce a ban on laughing gas this year following concerns about the risks it poses to health and to road safety, after a surge in traffic accidents linked to the drug including a series of fatalities.

Discarded nitrous oxide cylinders are a ubiquitous sight on high streets and at festivals, with almost one in 10 16- to 24-year-olds reporting having taking the drug in 2019-20. These kits do not use an extra fuel solenoid to deliver the fuel. Instead, they rely on the engine’s current set up and one nitrous solenoid. This can work very well but only if you have a very clever and compatible ECU that is able to inject the large amounts of extra fuel needed for when the nitrous is triggered. Dry systems can’t be used on engines with carbs. Avoid trying to cheat the fuel pressure regulator into giving more fuel too. This generally results in failure as it either doesn’t make power or melts the engine. Wet kits The gas produces sensations of euphoria, giggling and hallucinations, but can also cause dizziness and impaired memory, as well as accidents from leg weakness. It can also cause neurological problems by inactivating the vitamin B12. To allow the pressurized nitrous to reach the engine, the kit relies on solenoids to open that are triggered electronically. The WON kits use a solenoid that allows the nitrous to take the most simple and unrestrictive path through to ensure the high pressure from the bottle and lines is maintained. The solenoids are also designed so they can be pulsed. This means that when they are linked to a controller, they can carefully ration the amount of nitrous that passes through them. They also incorporate a metering jet which increases response and makes them more efficient. The different nitrous oxide kits Dry kits

As well as its numerous practical applications we feel it is important to note that N2O is a powerful greenhouse gas and a significant contributor to global warming. The majority of the gas present in the atmosphere is in fact either naturally occurring or from an industrial/agricultural source but the small 8gm nitrous oxide (NOS) canisters will also play their part so please use them responsibly. The most important add-on of all; traction control for nitrous. A basic unit simply pulses the solenoids open and shut to deliver smaller amounts of nitrous as and when you want it. This means it can gradually deliver a larger and larger shot progressively rather than all at once. In turn, allowing the engine to slowly consume more nitrous when it can. It’s kinder to the drivetrain, helps acceleration times and is more efficient. It also allows a much bigger dose; increased air speed at higher speed and rpm means the nitrous is more diluted with air, and therefore capable of consuming more. Clever versions have extras such as recognizing what gear you’re in and increasing the dosage it injects throughout the gear. They also enable safety features, such as delaying injection time until after the clutch is disengaged.
