About this deal

Those interested in the more technical details might be left disappointed, but that’s not to say Hepworth doesn’t tackle these (particularly in the earlier chapters).

It may have begun life as an affluent suburban house, but it soon became a creative hub renowned around the world as a place where great music, ground-breaking sounds and unforgettable tunes were forged - nothing less than a witness to, and a key participant in, the history of popular music itself. He does a really meticulous job of here of charting the history of the world-famous studios, and it makes for a fascinating read. German pianist Hans von Bülow fainted on hearing the playback of his own performance of a Chopin mazurka.Of course, I especially liked reading about The Beatles and how they recorded at the studios, and as I read, I found myself yearning to visit the studios.

We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. David Hepworth skriver som vanlig med stort hjerte for musikken og menneskene, med gripende formuleringer og mange tiår med innsikt i populærmusikkens vesen. Long before and long after The Beatles, some of the best music in the world was born in those rooms and they are still carrying on as one of the best studios in the world. David Hepworth has been writing, broadcasting and speaking about music and media since the seventies. Complemented by an array of revealing personal photographs, the narrative alternates between heartfelt nostalgia about the seedier side of Manhattan’s go-go scene and funny quips about her unconventional stage performances. And Norman Smith [again: see above], who’s the engineer, looks at the lyrics lying around and thinks, ‘They’ve blown it this time; they’ve gone too far this time. main drawbacks with book - DH does go into a lot of ( probably too much) detail of the different technologies ( although it does mean the information is in one place ) and his writing can be a bit tortuous , Having said that I found it a very good read. Overall, as easily readable and entertaining as always, but perhaps feeling a little more disposable than expected.
