Lionsgate gives American Psycho a true upgrade on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with a fresh native 4K scan with Dolby Vision HDR and a very impressive Dolby Atmos audio track with some new bonus features for fans to pick through. Though the image does clean up as the film progresses, there are still moments that are noticeably more ragged, with excessive grain and even dirt. Unfortunately, these are the only interview clips they kept, and since From Book To Screen didn't bring them back for seconds, it means we don't hear from most of the cast, who were on the older discs.Bret Easton Ellis' novel "American Psycho" rocked the literary world in 1991 with all the subtlety of a tidal wave.

Several years before his Batman trilogy, Christian Bale brought the enigmatic psycho, Patrick Bateman, to life in a superior adaptation of American Psycho. Clearly meant to be a very, very dark satire (which seemed to escape the comprehension of most of its critics), it still fails on almost every single level as a work of fiction. Not only do they - as is unfortunately not the norm for any other studio - port all of the Blu-ray extras over to the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc itself, but they sometimes even afford it new ones too.Bateman is the ultimate yuppie, judging everyone by what they are wearing and how they are wearing it, and becomes panicked and irrational if someone has anything better than what he has. The 4K presentation erases almost all of those problems, still affording the piece a natural, organic look replete with firm texturing and not-too-over-the-top colours, but bringing forth a staggering amount of crisp clarity to the image.
