About this deal

The Bosch PMF 180 E has a variable control switch to control the oscillations between 15,000 and 20,000 per minute. Its suited to vertical cuts to remove sections of skirtingboards or the bottom of trims, architraves etc. br/>The PMF 180 is in no way a white elephant if you need to plunge cut a socket box into the side of a kitchen cabinet or remove a section of skirting boards that are heavily fixed to the wall! The problem is that after a couple of minutes sanding the sheet begins to become detached from the pad and after about 5 minutes it falls of.

The blades are expensive, hard to find and seem to blunt easily - but it beats most of the alternative ways of getting the result. The blades have mounting lugs, once these are engaged toy can fasten the blade to the machine by tightening the socket head bolt.

It seems to like cutting in on a diagonal and not being pressed on too hard, but it gets through nice and cleanly.

Prior to fitting the brushes make sure that the commutator on the armature is smooth and that there are no bars missing. Has its uses but could be better, i used it to try and cut under skirting boards and it ended up with be ripping them off anyway as the tool took forever and went blunt. Those awkward trims that used to have to be butchered out, often ruining tools in the process and cutting all sorts of materials in awkward to reach places.I would recommend using ear plugs or ear muffs when your cutting though as it is a little loud, although it can be tolerated without for periods of time. Since opening it up, the motor also seems to get stuck a bit, making that noise when you stall a drill. I found the speed dial on the rear very useful in controlling both sanding and cutting when using the tool and found the weight and size of the tool fit into my hands nicely. Because the blade will not rotate at high speed and there is no hidden danger of cracking and splashing, it is very safe to use.

I would like a Fein Multimaster as they seem to have a few more attachable toys, but as I am only using it on my own house and not working with it as a tradie or anything I just can't justify it still. My wife got me one of these for Xmas 2011, in April 2012 the switch broke and Bosch collected it for repair.I was going to cut some square steel tube with it as well but realised it would be a bit to slow so switched back to the angle grinder instead. i went to a show in Melbourne and spoke with the Fein guys and they gave me a demo and it was all that i wished the Bosch to be, so i purchased it, came with lots of blades and 3 year warranty. The Bosch PMF 180 E can be used in places where it would be impossible to reach with any other kind of saw. Multitools like the PMF 180 are more suited to cutting underneath the architraves etc when laminate flooring for example. I’ve considered getting a dedicated detail sander but to be honest I suspect they all suffer from the same problem so I don’t see much point in shelling out more money – I’d be interested to hear about peoples experiences with other detail sanders though.

Has anyone found that when using this multi-tool by Bosch that the screw that holds blades has a tendency to work loose when being used? The actual reason for it coming apart as explained by the repairer, they are designed to do the one off job, i was jinxed there, so i invested in a tool that will redeem me the reward of spending money wisely and i do a professional job. I am dissapointed to hear that you managed to vibrate one apart 3 times, thats pretty bad, would you say you were using it alot though, i. The better your problem and question is described, the easier it is for other Bosch owners to provide you with a good answer. Having removed the whole unit, it just lifts out complete, I was able to inspect the crimped connections. Finally, each new sanding sheet somehow damages the pad, after a dozen or so sheets the pad is pretty much ruined.
