About this deal

I have to be honest that due to past experiences there were certain elements of the novel that I found a bit upsetting, although not enough to stop me reading the next in the series. The investigation begins when the body of a young American student is found in the backseat of a car during a large road accident, but it quickly comes to light that this was not how the young woman met her death. Entführung, Folter, sexuelle Gewalt und andere Grausamkeiten - bis zum Zunähen der Münder der Opfer und Ohrmarken mit Nummern wie bei Nutzvieh. But this "fictitious" town is so complete with street names and such detail that I find it hard to believe I couldn't go there if it wasn't on the other side of the pond!

Although, if you look at how many are in the series, I'm sure you can figure out how it ends for at least one character.

Once again, we have equal importance given to the characters’ personal lives and mystery behind the murders. Their conversations about each others' personal lives starts to become too much and I found myself flicking through those parts. This time they are out to catch a sadistic killer who has already killed at least twice, but probably there are more bodies to find! Furthermore, this book loses a whole point, one less star, based on the abrupt ending which means it can not standalone and the reader is obliged to read on .

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Lydia is just slutty and Jones is a cheap-skate, too concerned with saving money than solving crimes. I had read and enjoyed the previous book by this author featuring these detectives so I was looking forward to this novel. I loved this police procedural/crime fiction novel and look forward to reading the third book in the series, “Dead List”.The storyline of the missing child felt incomplete, although perhaps it will be explored in the next book? The only saving grace is then are shorter than the average novel but therein lies a further problem. I've gradually picked up on the fact that DS, DI, and DCI are police officials of increasing rank, they work out of a "Nick," and they would rather catch the bad guy before he decides to "do one.

In his efforts to create out his fantasies he befriends similar looking young woman and murders them when they don’t meet his vision of his ideal woman. I enjoyed the way the character of the killer was written as they were very much the dark, sadistic and obsessed kind who's feeling for all but their obsession was seemingly muted. He has starred in Doctor Who, played the Angel of Death in Hellboy II and is an award-winning reader who has recorded over 100 audiobooks. I would much prefer for the author and the publisher to put a warning on the cover that this story is part of a series and not a complete ‘stand alone’ novel. I have not marked it quite so high as the previous book 'Dead Wrong' but it was a very strong 3 star rating and could of easily have been a 4.

Born in Edinburgh to an English father and Scottish mother the family settled in a Pennine village between the counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire. Helen is one of the ‘baby boomer’ generation and began writing when she retired from her job at a local college. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a series of books as it works perfectly as a stand alone thriller.

Both the novels are fairly short but are full of action and suspense with good believable characters. This starts with two cases the first a missing child and the second a body found at the scene of a road accident that forensics said was dead prior to crash.I realise this is a work of fiction but I prefer the main police characters in crime stories to have a certain degree of credibility and be people I can empathise with to some extent. Jonathan combines his audio work with a busy theatre and TV career, having featured in over 500 radio plays for the BBC and appearing in everything from Shakespeare to Sherlock Holmes. He claims to have absolutely no idea what he's doing with his love life when in reality its down to him making asinine choices and then not being able to own up to them. Having been married and divorced before the age of twenty-one has set a pattern that he finds difficult to escape. I know safety and finality are implied but rather than a chapter of the next book I would like a concluding chapter to the one I’d just listened to!
