Pick up all of the newly released Defenders of the Realm items including the long awaited reprint of the Quest of the Realm Deck! I'm sure some highly critical readers will find many holes in this story (I did wonder about the dialogue - if it resembles how British youngsters talk), but I think middle grade readers will like the action and twists, and the plot was easy to follow. I have also seen some amazing images online of the commercial vehicles the Defender will be coming out with, and I think this is going to be another slam dunk for the British brand.You can turn up to a building site, a film premiere or park outside the Dorchester — which, in fact, I just recently did, and the concierge said people kept coming over to take a look at my Defender. To make it worse, I think there is little motivation involved when he decides to become The Defender aside from duties. The Black Dragon killed Alfie's father in a battle at Stonehenge; the dragon's power and strength has increased due to finding parts of the ancient crown. Defender Of The Realm tells the story or Alfie who is a reluctant heir to the thrown and who finds himself thrust into the limelight to take on his duty a little earlier in life than he would have thought. To celebrate the release of ‘Defender of the Realm Dark Age’ I am delighted to welcome Mark Huckerby to the blog with a special guest post. I loved the mixture of historical fact and fiction and the use of real locations throughout the book. Alfie tries desperately to learn the ropes but unaware that there is danger is on the horizon, an epic battle beyond anyone’s imagination awaits him. The plot is entertaining and action-packed with a monstrous being that children will love to hate and battle sequences that are simply breath-taking.

Alfie is helped by non-royal Hayley who just happened to witness Alfie’s father as Defender in a fierce battle.
