There's a distinct lilac note in this fragrance to my nose even though it is not listed in the note profile above. Eventually the melon and peach make appearances, but there are no other flowers and no sweetness in Sapphires at any point for me. This can be appreciated loved and worn by any girl or woman of any age who has what Liz Taylor had - good taste. Rubies is just delicious and smells expensive, Emeralds is nice and easy,, Sapphires smells cheap to me and cloying.

In the ‘90s, Escape smelled fresh and beautiful, but if someone wore too much of it, the oakmoss and coriander would make you want to escape the room.The vetiver wasn't noticeable to me (which is a good thing imo) and the main notes that stood throughout were lily of the valley, peach and rose. I can see the similarities mainly due to the melon and the spice but I think Escape is much sharper which I love in a perfume.

I love Angel (The Godmother of gourmand perfume) but I need different things now to round up my perfume collections. After that the warm spices come aorund but they don't rule the composition the way they do that in Diamonds and Rubies, fortunatelly for me.The Issey Miyake references are very accurate, but Diamonds and Sapphires has none of the screechy or piddly notes. I was expecting melon but not this kind of half dry melon peel with slight hint of dried lily of the valley. Listen, don´t think that this one is in any way out-dated- it could easily be a modern day Versace or or Gucci.

Thank you to my toddler, who spotted the sparkly bottle (which I love, reminds me of the American soaps my Nanna used to watch) and wanted me to try it. Even though this one is not my favorite and chances are I’ll never wear it, I enjoy the scent because it evokes fond memories. Starts white floral with green stems, the florals are fleshy, and definitely not clean like today’s Calvin Klein’s etc, this one is rounded like Estée Lauder type.
