About this deal

The BBC word mark and logo is a trade mark of The British Broadcasting Corporation and is used under license from BBC Worldwide. The 50th anniversary reissue comes in either vinyl or CD box set form, with both including two DVDs. Also seen are sessions with the London Symphony Orchestra, creating the full sounds we get to hear on “Maid” and “There’s A World,” studio time with legendary Nashville DJ Scott Shannon, and more than enough extended jam sessions to satisfy the most hardcore of Neil Young fans. Harvest is housed in a Stoughton tip-on jacket which has a matte texture on the outside and a high-gloss finish on the inside. The Harvest Time DVD is a 2-hour treasure trove of Neil playing with what was likely the most talented band he ever assembled.

Highlights of Harvest Time include recording sessions with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash (the scene with Crosby is especially jarring, as he and Young are very dedicated to the idea of never speaking again). Neil Young’s most popular album, 1972’s Harvest, will be reissued for its 50th anniversary in December. The album is an iconic punk-rock-pop masterpiece and one of the most influential and defining albums of the 1990’s.His fourth solo album remains one of the most beloved in his catalogue and is full of with songs which have become all-time classics. The box sets include the original album, 3 outtakes from the Harvest sessions, two DVDs and a hard bound book. But part of the fun of these reissues is the extra goodies that enhance the original songs and help the listener peer into the process of making music, and this is where the 50th Anniversary Edition excels. The box set is completed by two DVDs which provide a new glimpse into 'Harvest': The first is 'Harvest Time', an unreleased two-hour film shot during the making of 'Harvest', with footage from Young's 'Harvest Barn' sessions in Northern California, recording sessions in Nashville and London. The Asylum Years (1972-1975) will be available as a 5CD with an accompanying book featuring photos and a conversation about this period between Joni Mitchell and longtime . All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

In terms of bonus audio, Young’s much-bootlegged February 23 BBC In Concert is included on CD and vinyl in the respective packages and three Harvest outtakes are also made available in physical form for the first time. This should be amazing as it captures the making of the album from start to finish and was directed by Neil Young and his film crew in 1971. The final piece of the Harvest box set (besides a book and photographs) is a two-hour documentary, directed by Young, of the making of the album and Young’s life on his California ranch. Neil Young announces the December 2nd release of a 50th Anniversary Edition of his 1972 album Harvest . Green Day’s third studio album Dookie was released in February 1994, and has since sold over 15 million copies worldwide, including 10 million in the US (RIAA Diamond certified). All told, Harvest (50th Anniversary Edition) is a rich, satisfying documentation of one of rock’s most essential records. All songs ©1971 Silver Fiddle Music (ASCAP), except "A Man Needs a Maid," "Old Man" and "The Needle and the Damage Done" ©1971 Broken Fiddle Music (ASCAP). The first DVD is Harvest Time - a 2-hour, unreleased film shot during the making of Harvest, and includes footage at Neil’s Broken Arrow ranch in Northern California, plus the recording sessions in Nashville and London.

Half a century after its original release, it remains perhaps his best (and most beloved) album, more than worthy of revisiting on its own merits. The 50th Anniversary Edition will be released on triple-vinyl and triple-CD, both of which features the original album; a disc of three studio outtakes from the original ‘Harvest’ sessions (‘Bad Loneliness’, ‘Journey Through The Past’ and ‘Dance Dance Dance’); and an unreleased live BBC solo performance. The 50th Anniversary Edition will be released on triple-vinyl and triple-CD, both of which features the original album; a disc of three studio outtakes from the original Harvest sessions (‘Bad Loneliness’, ‘Journey Through The Past’ and ‘Dance Dance Dance’); and an unreleased live BBC solo performance.
