To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. He proudly stands there, arms folded with a convincing air but when challenged by a ring-tailed lemur and a fox that tigers are bigger and more ferocious than him he realises that perhaps he is not a tiger after all. And so begins the second half of the book as the mouse uses its zany logic to define the other animals in the story. Maybe just something sensitive about that in the fake news era where the world is being destroyed by people with this kind of baseless conviction?

Karl: The idea for it came when I thought about how silly it could be for something to confidently declare it was something else - something that it clearly wasn't!I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. The last few days, neighbours may have heard me zooming around the garden with my spider powers chasing the tasty little 2 legged flies.

Karl: I'm currently working on a ship-shaped chapter book idea (and a couple more ideas for Mouse to explore! Ross: It’s either when very occasionally I make myself laugh with something I’ve drawn or more often when I just slightly change the way a character is standing or looking and it alters the whole tone of the piece – it’s amazing what you can do with a little line. Not just the way she handles a situation, but in that to me 'Mouse' is a she, but to Ross, Mouse is a he, and to readers Mouse can be anything they want him/her/them to be.He went on to study illustration at the Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1994 and in the same year he won the Macmillan Children’s Book Prize for the The Sea Hole . Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. The mouse aspires to be a strong, fierce, roaring tiger instead of a small, scared, innocent, mouse. A charming story to read together, with simple text and bold illustrations, this is a lovely book to read aloud and to share.
