The Memory Stick XC has a maximum theoretical 2 TB capacity, 64 times larger than that of the Memory Stick PRO Duo which is limited to 32 GB. By the way: once my cards are no longer in active use, I put them in the micro-SD to SDcard adapter they usually come with.

I switched back to camera mode and found the digital camera happily thinking it's got a Memory Stick inside its body. This problem has been bugging me for a while and seeing as how no one has really answered i thought i would post the solution. Most devices that use the original Memory Sticks support both the original and PRO sticks since both formats have identical form factors.

I would be very much surprised if you manage to find any reader that can read a Memory Stick but not a Memory Stick PRO.

It seems that once you've stuck a microSD Card into this microSD MS PRO Duo Reader, you've converted it to a Memory Stick PRO Duo. Frankly, most external card readers should work (they just are a bit less convenient than what you can turn into a laptop-internal reader).I still have one last issue though : whenever I put a Duo Pro MS into the built in reader, my PC doesn't detect anything.
