Evangelion Finally" contains "Fly Me to the Moon (Yoko Takahashi Acid Bossa Version)" and "Fly Me to the Moon 2020" and has a EU/US release, why not use the second of them for the Clean-/Full-size ED? This release includes the newer dubbed and subtitled version, not the classic versions, which some fans would obviously prefer. Presented on Blu-ray for the first time in North America, this groundbreaking, action-packed series from creator Hideaki ANNO has been hailed as one of the most important anime series of all time – a remarkable fusion of genres, and a powerful examination of the relationship between man and machine. Then we have the music licensing issue with Fly Me to the Moon, the iconic ending song for the TV series. The final Rebuild movie takes this to eleven with a completely nonsense conclusion that manages to explain absolutely nothing while continuing to vomit total gibberish up to the last line.

The more expensive collector’s edition is an 11-disc package that includes the classic versions, but still without “Fly Me to the Moon. Presented on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK and Ireland, this groundbreaking, action-packed series from creator Hideaki ANNO has been hailed as one of the most important anime series of all time – a remarkable fusion of genres, and a powerful examination of the relationship between man and machine. While the ending song is absent on this release, all the other bonus features as well as the improved visual and audio quality more than make up for it. The score and music selections provide Neon Genesis Evangelion with a wonderful sense of imagination. But it’s simply not the pinnacle of the artform—that would clearly be something from Studio Ghibli or Satoshi Kon.

Show spoiler] So since "Fly Me to the Moon" has been used in trailers and teasers for other anime and games makes me think it's not the song itself that is so expensive to use (or at least a 1 time use), I more have the feeling that one party is to greedy. There are references to esoteric mysticism such as Lilith, the Chamber of Guf, and the Spear of Longinus; the names of all the Angels are borrowed from Judeo-Christian mythology, and even the supercomputers are named after the traditional Three Wise Men. I’m also coming from a position of someone who has owned Evangelion several times over–the original Perfect Collection DVD’s, the Platinum Edition DVD’s, the Funimation Movie releases, and the Manga Entertainment releases of the two movies. The NEON GENESIS EVANGELION Limited Edition features over 5 hours of bonus features, with both Official (2019) and Classic (1996) Dub and Subtitled options spread over 11 discs. I have that one OP, great set and doesn't cost hundreds like the ridiculous sets released before it.

Shinji wants to run away from everything because he struggles to find acceptance; his issues with others is a reflection of his inability to accept himself. And in the BD release you have to turn the volume up and/or need headphones to really notice its existence. Anime Limited announced plans for an Ultimate Edition the day they announced the license, and what we got is another big box full of artwork and debatable design choices. In the long run, it’s best not to overthink Evangelion, because part of its power comes from the inscrutable mystery. That basic concept provided a framework for Anno to explore the psychology of these children, and by extension, his own mental difficulties as well; the entire production became therapy for him after suffering from depression. Please Note: The international re-release of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION does not contain "FLY ME TO THE MOON" in any of its home video editions. His repeated Decisive Battle theme was inspired by John Barry’s 007 theme for From Russia with Love, and it would later form the core of his soundtrack for Shin Godzilla. Like, yes, due to social media, there’s been a bit more interaction between international fans and anime staff, but there’s little to no evidence it makes creative differences. The series also had director’s cut versions for select episodes which were also released in English and eventually the series as a whole was then ‘remastered’ on DVD as a Platinum Edition.

Furthermore, the only people capable of piloting these giant mecha were school children, which fed into the whole high school drama aspect that tended to be common among the mecha anime shows at the time. There were also issues with budgets and resources, forcing cost-saving measures like static shots and repeated cyclical animations.

Of course, the way that resolution is handled in The End of Evangelion leaves a trail of death and destruction in its wake.
