About this deal

Remember to clean it thoroughly before use and encourage your little one to explore and learn at their own pace.

You want to teach your child to drink from a straw, but they seem to be struggling a bit with a regular straw. Step 2: Sit down, smile at your baby to catch their attention, and then bring the cup to your mouth to take a small sip. (You can use the same cup if you are comfortable with that or two cups, one for you and one for baby. Just make sure you are drinking out of the same looking cup.)

Come back when you're older

Step 1: Put a small amount of breast milk, formula, or water* (1-2 oz at most) in a cup. Show your baby how it’s done by bringing the open cup to the table at mealtime with 1-2 oz of breast milk, formula, or water in it. What to do if baby is resistant or struggling with cup drinking Baby not interested in cup drinking There are a few cups out there that actually help bring the liquid up the straw. The "Mr. Juice Bear" therapy cup, or honey bear cup is made just to teach straw drinking. Although not made for this purpose, the take and toss straw cup has similar functionality and is less expensive. These cups have a very short shelf life because your baby basically outgrows it as soon as it does its job—which is to teach your baby how to drink from a straw! (Babies will also catch on that they can squeeze it and use it like a fire hose!) However, we mention it because it’s really effective for babies who are struggling with the straw. If this is your baby and the pipette method did not work, here’s how you can employ straw trainer cups like Mr. Juice Bear or a take and toss straw cup: Absolutely love this product for my son who has suffered with dysphasia since birth following a stroke. I love that these bears are a bit larger as my son is now 1 and taking more liquids. I also appreciate the extra straws and accessories. The bear really helped us transition from g-tube feeds to exclusive oral feeding, thank you! It looks like a little container that is commonly used to store honey. However, this adapted cup has helped many children who have struggled in their initial exposure and experience with straw drinking. It does this by creating a safe and no-fuss method to intake fluid.

You can wash the cup and the straw in warm soapy water and use a bottle brush or a small brush to clean the inside of the straw. Step 1: Bring the straw trainer with water, breast milk, or formula to the table and offer the straw to your baby by holding it in front of their mouth. Often babies who may have already decided that they hate straw cups will happily accept this cute little bear! The take and toss cups are brightly colored and fun as well. Many of these processes can be modified and adapted through close observation. Weekly intervention and counsel with a speech and language pathologist can also be quite helpful.Talking to your pediatrician about your child’s transition to drinking from a cup may be helpful as well as each child follows their own timeline. Choosing the Honey Bear Straw Cup Made from medical grade materials that are FDA compliant - free from BPA, latex, lead, phthalates and PVC Brush Tips - The soft version has gentle bristles for gum massage; the hard version has firmer bristles closer to that of a traditional toothbrush. These can be used to help get orally sensitive individuals more comfortable with oral care, so that they can eventually use regular toothbrushes, be more comfortable going to the dentist, etc. Make drinking easier for beginners or those with oral motor difficulties

Kary Rappaport, a Solid Starts feeding specialist, teaches her daughter Lucy, 7 months, how to drink from a straw with the pipette method. Straw trainer methodStep 3: When baby accepts the straw in their mouth, take your finger off the top and allow the liquid to pour into their mouth. This usually helps your baby understand to close their lips, and that liquid comes out of the straw. Compatible with most standard .25" diameter straws should you need more down the road. You can also get extra tubing straws here or regular straws here. Popette Tip - This tip attachment is an adaptor that lets you use lollipops with the Z-Vibe. Just twist the Popette Tip into the Z-Vibe handle, then press a lollipop into the Popette Tip. Lollipops are a fun way to get kids interested in sensory oral motor exercises. It took about a day for him to trust the bear, but once he got the hang of it, he loved it! He is now drinking so well! I love that I can adjust the flow and slowly (eventually) make the flow more so we can kind of wean him off such a slow flow. Thank you times a MILLION ARK Therapeutics! I've even been able to share this with someone else who's toddler is struggling with drinking! Transitioning from bottles or breastfeeds to solid foods and liquids in a cup (basically eating and drinking like a big kid!)

XT / Medium Firm - this is the middle level, which we call XT ("Xtra Tough"); It's firmer, but still fairly chewyStep 1: Using a straw (a standard plastic restaurant straw will do), use your finger to trap a *small* amount of liquid in the bottom. Introducing the Honey Bear Straw Cup to your toddler can be a game-changer in your mealtime routine.
